1998 Lincoln Town Car Heater Core

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My Dad's 1998 Lincoln Town Car has a heater core leak and after sitting for a year he needs it repaired so the car can be daily driven. I remove the heater box as well as the dash board from the car to complete the repairs. I have step by step instructions included in the video.

I want to say thank you for taking the time to film this task. I went to my local library and copied several service manuals. All very similar to your explanation of this task. I’ll be tackling this job this weekend. Thanks again!

I’m about 3 bolts away from having the heater core out. I don’t think I would have ever found the bolt hidden behind the corner of the blower motor. What a job! Sad that so much has to be taken off to get this job done.

Thanks for this video. I have a 1989 Linc.. Do they have blend door actuators? My air only blows out the vents, which means I have no defrost, or floor air when selected. I've replaced the master control valve, check valve, checked hoses, changed the Temperature Control Servo. What else could it be? Thanks in advance

Many of us that aren't pros or even have a clue or those that just need more insight to do the job , really appreciate what you have done! If it weren't for people like you. Hello, great video, but I have a questions... there are 3 large plugs and one medium/small electrical plugs on the driver's side kick panel that you disconnected. I have a 2000 model and it looks to be the same, but I cannot find where the one medium/small electrical plug goes? It would be the grey plug that you can see if you freeze the video at 7:54 - the grey plug you can almost see the brass prongs on the open face. I think it may have something to do with tail lights or ABS as they no longer work and the ABS light is on... Can you help?

So, I guess it's obvious that Ford designed and built this entire car around that heater core. I was thinking that, maybe, since I need a new blend door actuator and I'm also replacing the carpet, I'd just go ahead and replace the heater core as a preventative measure. You know, 'while I'm in there'. Sigh. And I thought just the blend door actuator was going to be a pain...

Damn what a pain in the ass! Thanks for the video, I was thinking about doing this repair by myself. But have been told that you need 3 people when removing and reinstalling the dash. My 1999 lincoln was a great car. But now it has a bad heating coil, so bad that its undrivable, needs balls joints, new tires, the front bumper has cracked and there is a small dent on the back right quarter panel. Otherwise, the car runs great. Maybe I should just sell it?

I have an '02 TC with 167k miles, last August the front left ball joint gave out and so did the lower control arm (maybe as a result). Definitely not worth the $700 bill when I'm gonna only be able to sell it for like $1500.

You forgot to bolt a bracket bar under the steering column. It bolts up on the left rear bolt of the steering column. It supports the column so you don't stress the dash and i think it's also designed for pushing the column on a side in a crash. If you go back at minute 30:18 you see it wiggle on the right side of the fuse box.

At first a one owner low mileage for a 98 with perfect maintenance records seemed great but $800 I paid for this type of car was overpriced. I will be bypassing my heater core on this car and appreciating the designs of my Chevy even more.

The Lincoln is a 98 120k miles and had one owner with a maintenance log.The car was well maintained I did a few preventative things such as upgraded the electric system, switched out the bags with springs, seafoam engine cleaning, and protective paint on the underbody.
