Wow,! Watching this Oct. 2022. Speed vision based in Stamford, CT, just 1 mile from my birth place. Sam from Sharon, CT. Sat and Sun this channel covered 24 Le Man, Canadian F1, and World Super Bike from Nurburgring. What a motorsport buffet 👍👌🏆🏁. Great looking back now from New Hampshire. 🇺🇲👍

So you're saying that 1998 - 2003 is 10 years? By the way Porsche GT1 and the CLK-LM are also in the same style of early 2000's prototypes. In fact the Porsche GT1 resembles the Bentley LMP from 2002 And that's because technology in aerodynamics didn't change much from 98 to 2002

@@FriendlyCroock They are less complex aerodynamically, the 911 and CLK LM was not in the same class as the Speed 8, nor the '99 Toyota TS020. Ten year ahead in time, we saw Audi R10 if not R12 by then? And Peugeot 908. The Bentley was a GT Prototype, (So a closed cockpit LMP900 I believe) with designers shared with the 905 evo 2 supercopter, and same chassis as the R8C (I believe, or atleast I think it was one or other dallara R8 chassis) But I agree with the centiment of your message :) It was cutting edge, and should have won le mans in 99, but it wasn't leagues ahead of the competition.

But some of you are acting as if there were 25 years between 1998 and 2003 It's only 5 years. It's pretty much the same technology.

@@FriendlyCroock I think I was trying to say that five and 10 years ahead in time, the TS010 would not be competetive. Yes I realize it's the 2002 Speed 8 you were talking about, but isn't that just a futher developed R8C? It is only five years, but LMP1/LMP900 became the top category. As far as I know, they were less restricted, and they didn't have to build homlogation cars. So the Toyota would not be competetive. I might be way off, if so never mind. I think I agree with you! But I am a idiot, and that must have hinderd me :D

That's Davey Jones, this was after he had a real bad wreck at Indy. He was never the same, here he is still recovering, not drunk.

I regret to be the one dissenting voice here. While I'm very appreciative of you taking the trouble to upload, I stopped watching halfway through part 2 as the team covering this race apparently thought that showing pit activities and stranded drivers changing batteries ad nauseam are far more deserving of coverage than the actual race out on the track.

Its interesting to see during those years how important development matters, the 1998 BMW could fight with the big boys but that same car in privateers hands in 1999 it was nowhere, where as the 1999 BMW again could fight Toyota and Merc and eventually won the 1999 race, then again in 2000 when BMW quit the 1999 car was still racing in the American Le Mans against the 2000 Audi R8 and got destroyed but 1 year development.

Davey Jones was great driver in all kinds of cars. He won Le Mans and Daytona 24, came in 2nd at Indianapolis. Was very competitive in IMSA. He suffered a couple of head injuries in crashes and it affected his speech. Does it make you feel superior to make fun of his speech impediment?
