I'd take this over the Mach E all day, everyday. Even with the V6 and automatic transmission.

Yeah i don't understand why people trash on V6 Mustangs. They are pretty good for cruising around and for people who don't really care about performance.

I was born in 97 too. Class of 2016 lol. Honestly the more I drive the Flagship cars of the 90’s and early 00’s, (LS400, Firebird, C5, Mustang, MR-2 Spyder, etc) the more I realize personally that the automotive peak in creativity seems to be 1989-2004. At least from what I’ve seen. Pontiac, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Mazda all had cool enthusiast cars and coupes, and almost all are gone.

We got a 98 GT convertible a couple months ago. It's a very fun car, and a breath of fresh air from the 95 LeBaron convertible we had 🤭 It gets 25+ mpg on the highway, which seems pretty darned good, but it also really goes when you want it to! Sounds great, too.

I'm the kind of guy that appciates the cars that aren't considered cool. A lot of the guys at the shop always dog me about it but I don't care.

The 3.8 Essex motor while not having really any high end is still surprisingly satisfying for everyday driving around town.215 ft lbs of big V6 torque basically right off idle feels just fine when you're driving this or a 3.8 Taurus or sable and they get surprisingly good gas mileage on the highway,Near 30 mpg in my experience with the 3.8 and I never had head gasket issues with these engines, Just water pump failure.

I drove one identical to that in the early 2000s! A friend of mine bought two Mustangs online, so we flew to Florida, picked them up and drove them back to the Toronto area. I drove a red V6 automatic SN95 Mustang convertible, and had the top down almost all of the way, save for one hour in North Carolina when it looked like it was going to rain. The car was not super fast, but adequate with the V6/autotragic set up. A fun car to drive, with typical 90s Ford quality. Good times!

The "coin holder thing" is an insert in place of the optional fog light lamp. *Bonus Fact* on earlier SN95s they only had ONE cup holder that popped out from the center console/ cubby and placed your drink right on top of those switches. Don't spill!

The reality is that the SN95 mustang is first and foremost an (American) sports car. Mustang bros are similar to the Supra kids in the sense that if it isn’t tuned for drag racing then it’s not a “real” mustang.

I have a 2003 Mustang V6/auto coupe, in Zinc Yellow. It's the New Edge design, but the interior looks exactly the same as that one. Only 57K miles, looks brand new. Paint is a 9.9 out of 10, interior is an 8.5 out of ten. The cheap materials in the interior do not hold up well. The door panels are the worst part of the interior. The switches fail constantly, and the snap in tabs break off the panel where the switches go. It's so bad I carry extra window switches with me so I don't get stuck with the windows down and no way to put them up. I'm 6' 240, and I don't even fit in the back seat. The '94-'98 models were called the "jellybean" Mustangs. I do like the wheels on that one. My '03 has 16" wheels, and I am looking for a set of 15" wheels from an earlier model, so I can put real tires on it. The PLASTIC thing on the throttle body that the cruise control cable attaches to broke off, and to my amazement, you cannot buy a new or rebuilt stock throttle body for it. I had to go with an aftermarket "performance" throttle body, which required some modification to the cable bracket to make it fit. Since when does somebody put "performance" parts on a V6? I didn't buy my car because I wanted a Mustang. I bought it because I wanted a 2 door, rear wheel drive American car with a solid rear axle. The Mustang was the only affordable choice. I also like that it has a pushrod engine, without all the complicated super long chains, guides, and tensioners that OHC engines have. The 3.8L V6 may not be powerful, but for normal driving, it is reliable, and if properly maintained it will usually last past 200K miles. And while I'm not crazy about the looks (I would have much rather had a 4th generation Camaro/Firebird) it certainly looks a lot better than all the little gray front wheel drive 4 door sedans and crossovers on the road, especially in bright yellow.

This looks cheap inside and out because it is. This is from back when American cars at all price ranges used cheap materials because material quality just wasn't a thing US carmakers had to bother with. It's not a bad car, it's not a great car, it's just a product of its time. The Germans and the Japanese and now the Koreans have forced the Americans to step up their carmaking game.
