Did they stop racing twin tracks as the top fomula? If so, why?

The racing association banned them because of their dominance..

Champ 440 sleds surpassed them in speed around this time, and they also stopped producing the chassis long ago. They were fastest for a while, but complexity and cost was no longer worth it. I know a handful of guys hanging onto theirs, but they're too rare to risk. The last ones I've raced against, including a 600cc, I've beaten on our Champ 440 that's only running mid-00's tech.

@@dezldave961 thank you for responding. So champ 440 is the current oval class? When I watch the current oval ice race sleds on KZread they do not look to corner as fast as the old twin track sleds.

@@smplyizzy how they look doesn't correspond with what the lap times are. In the late-90s/early-00s they even ran both in the old F1 class together, and Champ sleds started winning that.
