I installed a JVC stereo using a 3rd party harness on my 2001 Audi TT Roadster. This video was extremely helpful at getting my system working. I tried using the wiring diagram but was not successful by myself. This video helped me tremendously and now my car radio rocks!!!

So watched your vid in prep of installing a deck in my buddies TT roadster... your vid was great precise and accurate. Even did the whole thing and waited to see if I’d have the “on off pop”... I did, so drove to Walmart and got an LOC prob solved. Trim plate fit shitty too but my guy won’t notice. Vids like yours is why KZread is so great... continuously lets me save money and or make money! THUMBS UP!!!

hello. Just bought a 2001 Audi TT with Bose. Watched your video several times and it seemed straightforward. I have done a lot of aftermarket work on my cars so I do know a bit. Unfortunately, the Metra connector doesn't seem to match up with my Audi harness. I'm stumped. The connectors that are available on line all seem identical to the Metra connector I already have. Thx.

Awesome video! But I got a question… I don’t know if you could help me tho because it’s a Mk4 Jetta so the wiring it’s a little different but I’ll ask anyway… I got it all connected, it works just fine but when I turn the car off all the settings reset, besides the Bluetooth connection with my phone(that stays). I also have a subwoofer and the power light from the sun stays always on but I can hear the sub starting when I turn the ignition on because it pops once(which I don’t know if it should). Thank you very much in advance!

I couldn't help but notice in the video (before you talked about using an LOC) you had the two front channels hooked up (speaker/high level) on the harness while also using the low level/RCA's. Is there a reason for this? (This can be seen in the video clearly at 6:16 for example.) My thinking is the deck powers a couple channels the Bose amp does not!? I have yet to pull the deck on my car and take a look. Just curious. Great Video, sub'd!

What wires did you connect already? And do you have all the wiring harness specific to the car? There should be a red bose connector, that will connect the rca jacks from the aftermarket radio to the amp. There's a black connector for power, acc, ground, etc. And the amped radio antenna. Also, how many plugs are connected to your factory radio?

  • @2010ngojo

I don't think he used the line out converter for this installation. He used the rca jacks with the red connector that connectors to the amp. If you want to hook up an loc, you probably want an on/off connection. Edit: I take that back. I see he used an loc. You can also use a ground loop noise isolator to reduce the popping noise.

Not a TT, but Mk1 A3, same base anyway. Did wiring just fine, it works great, but only the rears as front ones blew out prior to me buying it. I don't understand mounting. If you want to put a cage inside the hole, it won't fit all the way in, and the head unit will stick out some 4 cm outwards. If you DON'T put the cage in, the unit becomes loose in the hole, and you can pull it out when removing a USB stick from the port pretty much. Any ideas on how to fix it?

You need to switch the yellow wire with the red wire . Yellow is the 12v full time that for memory and the red is to the ignition so it sends power to stereo only when key is on

  • @roboteen

Hopefully my comment isn't late, Anyway, I tried installing a stereo, a previous owner installed one but I didn't like it too much. I seem to be missing some connection ports.... I have the bose system, the speakers say so, the previous stereo seemed to confirm it as well as looking up what the car originally came with but (looking at a wiring diagram) I'm missing plugs B and D as well as the grounding plug. There is also a red wire that I suspect is supposed to be the ignition wire????? But no power comes from it and it doesn't have any continuity with ground. With the install I used what I had, plugs A and C, the radio turns on and plays music, but I can hear the bad grounding from the engine, the staticy poppy sound when the engine is on, and the rear speakers don't work. Any suggestions?
