They were surprisingly capable despite being underweight and underpowered! The large-diameter skinny tires could get it through challenging terrain, and if you came prepared with winches and straps you'd never get the thing stuck.
You look gooooood with the beard buddy, You should grow it even more to become a viking warrior
There were two main lines of the Jimny, the kei and the regular version. You're driving the kei version, visually distinguished by narrow axles and lack of fender flares to conform to kei regulations. The regular version has flares and a larger engine. Suzuki should have kept selling the Samurai/Jimny in the US. A small, cheap 4x4 is very useful. I like these JDM 4x4s and that color combo is fun.
We got a slightly bigger version of that thing here in Indonesia. It has a slight bigger tires and fender flare and also a bigger engine of exactly 1 liter. If you guys in america want to buy these but your american butt will not allow for such a slow and small vehicle, take the indonesian version. And it still in a right hand drive configuration.
Zack, you really have a great channel. Enjoying all the rare featured vehicles. Your content is relentless, just cranking them out. Glad to be a subscriber!
As soon as the newest generation hits 25 years old, I WILL be importing one.
Zack, Something the size of a Tracker would be nice.
You can get brand new ones right now brand new ones in Central America and Latin America. They get them there. With four cylinders and stick or automatic they’re awesome..
the hood release is also in the glove box because of the soft top version of the jimny. you also missed the most important seating feature, the front seats fold completely flat making a decent bed with the back seat lol Americans also had a 'jimny' that's what the samurai was (had about 5inches more in width and some flares on the sides). it was killed off because it was threatening the mighty jeep and they couldnt have that, but as an owner of 5, 2 manuals and 2 auto and one rolling shell I can happily report you guys are missing out, its a fun little run about that's simple to work on if you want to get into offroading plus it has a MASSIVE community worldwide so parts are available which is a massive selling point for them but prices are a bit high because of demand
I’m sure other continents around the world as well
Hey man great review. You have some decent trunk space without taking out the seats. The backseat can fold foward with the latch on the back of the seat and in the bottom.
We did get it, it was the samurai, while we got different engines, it essentially the same car. A lot of parts are interchangeable
4WD Off-Road Kei SUV. What’s not to love? I’d would be awesome with a 7-speed manual, 2-speed transfer case, and an analogue MFI turbo-diesel.
Kei Jimny FTW
Just picked up a 2008 kei jimny. Should have the shipping schedule here shortly. Got it cheap. Going to absolutely thrash it offroad
i lived in Michigan by this and now in Pittsburgh... i want/wanted this sooooo badly
Well, it’s over 25 years old. You should be able to import them now.
JIMNY GANG!!!
Was sold on the US with a different engine known as a Samurai
This thing Is sweet! The size of It Is perfect Jeeps should have stayed this small and never became daily drivers just off road vehciles!
Nice 😊
Zack cool video I enjoyed
So neat
we do get these in the us as the samurai, and because of it tipping over at highway speeds, pepole didnt wanted it
DOPE!
600cc off roader!! 🤣🤣🤣 We had them in England, but never knew they had sucha tiny engine!Maybe the ones here had at least a bit bigger engine? Love the green! 😍😍
That's such a bad ass looking truck. I love it 👌👌😀😀
Sneaky Lancia Delta in the background 👀
@Shooting Cars okay man I’m waiting on that Saturn Vue 5 speed manual and 98 or 99 Dodge Durango vids that you posted on your Insta

We fortunately got the Suzuki Samurai and the Geo Tracker. So we didn't get completely left out.
Is it highway capable 🤔
Are these different from the Samurai that they sold in the US (excepting the engine)?

Yes, there were a lot of differences. The samurai, surprisingly, was a larger vehicle size-wise.

It's essentially a newer Samurai. The Samurai was the Jimny in its home market of Japan.
That thing is cuter than its cousins
Wait, this isn't the new Fallout show trailer.
The next gen Jimnys are much better than these, which is a hard task to beat.
I have no idea why Americans think big, heavy cars make for good offroaders. The last thing you want when treading on uneven terrain, mud or steep hills is unnecessary weight from a V8 with an unnecessarily large displacement, or huge bodies with an insane amount of roll.

Yeah, that’s why I don’t understand the new Jeep Wranglers with 6 and 8 cylinder engines. The old Jeeps had 4 or 6 cylinders (usually) while only having one row of seats, they where agile off road and easy to repair.

Hardcore off-roaders build buggies or old Jeeps. For most people, their off-roader is also their daily driver. A bigger vehicle is more convenient and comfortable for carrying stuff and people.

@@bwofficial1776I understand that, as I currently own a 1997 R50 Pathfinder. Good for driving in the sticks next to the very active volcano I live next to, while safe and pleasant enough to drive through the town's centre. I just don't get why it is the Wrangler getting that kind of treatment, especially given that it was the cherokee/wagoneer the one getting a pickup variant or a wagon variant, not the usual Jeep wrangler. I guess Stellantis just won't change until it goes the way of AMC.

@@Commandos12You can still put threads on almost anything. I mean, that is how snow bikes work.
An absolutely horrible vehicle in each generation of it right up to its current... Small (ridiculously), rough (spine breaking rough), underpowered and sluggish, unstable (too many of these ended up belly up on not so rough terrains), spartan... A horrible vehicle... Sort of the definition of nice ideas on paper perhaps, but horrible in real life... Liked the review though, and the color on this one is neat...
