For some reason 1997 is my most nostalgic year. I was 12 and probably watched more TV that year than any other year.

When I was 17 in '97, I was working for a living. 1997 just makes me feel old. FML

I miss those days as a kid growing up in the early 90's The holiday commercials were my favorite including Nickelodeon, Fox Family and MTV.

The coke A cola commercials during Xmas will always have a special place for me

I miss how commercials were back then. They felt so much lighter and easy to digest. The commercials now just feel flat, sterile, or just abrasive. I miss when TV was warm and comforting.

Like seeing Dave Thomas in Wendy's commercials. And i remember when my sister was watching TV, there were so many toy commercials. Everything is different now. Like i never really thought back then, that now would be so different.

I was 16 in 97, and that Levis AD was played so much on Nickelodeon, and MTV the song Car Wash is still ingrained in the back of my head because of it, but it never did get me to by a pair of Levis though. 😅

I turned 18 in 1997. I remember alot from that era. Lol especially the Craft movie with Nancy and Sarah...watched it so much.

I never realized it then but the commercials from the 90's were almost identical to the commercials from the 80's.

I graduated high school in 97 , oh how fast time flies. Miss growing up in 80's and 90's.

This was around my freshman year in HS. I can't thank you enough for posting these archives and giving us a wonderful trip down memory lane!

I sold all of my old video games in a yard sale and bought Nintendo 64 with Wave Race. I was 13.

"Feel like a kid again", heh, I was in college in 1997. 1997 to 2001, what a time to be in college.

I was 27. I don't recall these commercials! Arguably the best commercial production level since before digital TV. Watching this after just seeing on Twitter about Tony Bennett's Radio City Music Hall appearance. He's still got it, despite Alzheimer's.

Coincidentally I think the McRib was also just announced to come back again the other day. And just like in 1997, I have absolutely no desire to try it for fear of immense stomach pain.

It's even worse if you know the details of how it's made. Then consider the standards of cleanliness at most McDonald's, or at least of the minimum wage employees who stashed it under a heat lamp... probably days before you buy it. I'd rather have a few dollars in my wallet than have food poisoning.

Ah, the 90's. The decades in the 20th century were much more simpler times. Some subjects that are controversial now that were used in movies, commercials and in tv comedy shows like In Living Color or SNL would be overlooked or taken as a joke back then compared to now. Now, people would be offended.

Hello I'm born in 1993 and my dad had a VCR when i was a child. Therefore I grew up watching some of these commercials on the VHS tapes i recorded. My dad paused the recording during all the ads on his tapes of course

97 was great: coaching youth sports made me feel like a kid! Dennis Leary for lotus, great: the ads were much more creative than today's! Thanks for the memories, Dave.

So that’s where my friend back in 99 got that weird off mouth sync from the mercury commercial in the beginning. Also the d.c sniper got their idea from that movie trailer I can’t remember now “the jackel” ? He has his rifle out the back of the vehicle. Also I like the old sayings that was popular back then “ where you fly off too”? And “ picture so real you can fast it”. Nice slice of back then on this one.

I just saw a video about the history of the McRib origin. Arby's released its own rib meat sandwich that features real rib meat and not some molded meat shaped like a rack of ribs, but I still love that cheap little sandwich from McDs. I remember when they sold them 2 for 5 dollars one time. That was awesome.

"The McRib. It's back because you wanted it." NO WE DID NOT! The McRib tasted like BBQ Filet O Fish!
