A little clarification, T3 production was not moved from Europe to Africa in the 90s, T3 production in Africa started back in 1979, they replaced T2 with T3 at the same time as Germany. In the 90s, T3 was "only" updated in production in Africa.

Greetings from Cape Town, South Africa. These kombis are the best and the Audi 5 cylinder engines sound epic! My mom used to drive a Microbus with the 2.3l version of the Audi 5 cylinder engine from 2002 to 2004 when we upgraded to our current kombi, a 2000 model Caravelle T4 2.5tdi. If I remember correctly the microbus models, in most cases, had metal bumpers, round headlights and sharp edged rims to the touch and the Caravelle models had plastic bumpers, rectangle headlights and more round edged rims to the touch. The Caravelles also had front electric windows according to what I remember.

Good day from south africa First time watching your video and your facts are on point 😂 right down to the words and "wrap around grill" , the 2.3 was 4 speed yes , everything was exactly how I know it. By the way, the volksiebus was the lowest range "budget line". It was a 1.8 "same golf or jetta engine " and it was carburetor not injected 😊

In Pretoria and surrounding townships, these were used as taxis. You'd get 4cyl 2.1, the 5cyl 2.3,2.5 and 2.6 models. Not sure if it was because of the higher mileage, but they seemed to break bellhousings and the fuel injection system were temperamental. They are amazing when running right though. And now, guys are putting R36 vr6 motors in them. Hi from South Africa.

I had heard that the SA Vanagons had the Volvo inline 5 (possibly same motor Audi uses?) That is the motor they all should have come with, or maybe a TDI.

What a beauty. Along with the Golf this has got to be among the best in recent automobile design. I love the colour too. An interesting conversation that covered a fair amount of issues. The lack of appreciation by Indian motor vehicle policies of the inate importance of automobile related hobbies is a real set back to car enthusiasts. And also suppresses the growth of skill sets. This is both frustrating and angers. Hopefully as you mention we get a few enthusiast political heads in the picture. Excellent video

Hey rusty, Jayd in TC channel said that you use Forza horizon to get 3D models for your builds.(i didn't fully understand what he said) Is it possible to 3D print scale model cars this way? Part by part, like tamiya, fujimi, aoshima kits... (JayD only mentioned it, didn't go into much detail.)
