They weren’t legends back then tho... they worked hard to become one now.

Babu is a legend, but this routine only showcases his juggling and a small portion of his scratching skills. In 2 minutes Total not only showed he was better at scratching, but could do what Babs spent half his routine doing in half the time, with relative ease. Not to mention the word play and body tricks that got the crowd into it.

Although E had harder routines, Babu's scratching complimented his routines in each set. It shows balance.

hahah dude remember there being no ac at the spot and the battle being like 5 hours long?? the craze vs eclipse battle was close! this was during the east coast west coast era...so of course NY was reppin hard! I STILL GOT THE FLYER FOR THIS BATTLE! Roli vs Babu needs to be posted quick! remember dj ghetto with his broken pinky and rochead from new zealand...and Ray Roll i think was crakin on dj skinny boy from Hawaii lol! classic! i snuk a 40oz in my jansport and was just chillin! YEES!!

this vid is on heavy rotation.. never seen a dj act like total eclipse. thats really cool. pure entertainment, nice juggles.. easily one of my favourites!

@DjLukeySmoke The original is off of Jive Rhythm Tracks released in like 82 or so. It's called 122bpm. QBert and them put it on their Toasted Marshmellow Feet Breaks album which is what Babu uses in this battle. You can find it here on youtube. Just search for 122bpm beat or jive rhythm tracks 122 bpm.

Well .. i guess total didnt do any cutting . In any case, those of us who were there were tired and upset that craze got jerked. Worse part was that they had eliminations first, this was like RSC after event so we were already beat so to stand up all nite and watch politics unfold was the worst.

Seamless? I dig Babu way more than Total Eclipse.....that being said, T.E. was "Seamless" with the timing.....overall I give it to T.E. strictly on timing and showmanship.....Babu seemed too eager and wanted to flaunt all of his skills into 2 mins which in the end came out rushed and not fluid enough....that's my opinion

Babu was technically more proficient, funkier, fluid and musical. Not that Eclipse was particularly bad.

I gotta go with Babs as the winner here. 'Clipse didn't even have a "complete routine". 2 beat juggles with an "Oh shit, there's still time?" moment thrown in. Body tricks FTMFL!

That was a great battle with two legends, but Eclipse won that one.

but what people were unaware it that back in the ITF was judged on what came out of the speakers.. that was they spread as their difference between DMC and other battles...but not sure if that was the case in all ITF judging...
