1996 Chevy Caprice Classic Auction Win!
A trip to Capital Auto Auction for the WIN! The Chevy brochure called their Caprice Classic affordable luxury. But after 25 years these cars aren't exactly cheap anymore. Check out my trip to the auction lot and bringing home this American original.

Your dad should have his own show!! He's a character.
As 90s car guy. I highly approve of this. Love these cars!
Hope to see more of you and your dad. The way you play off of each other is priceless. Heavy is something you pick up lol
Nice Caprice, that'll clean up nicely. It would be even better with the 5.7 LT1 or 9C1 package and better still if it was a wagon. Why can't we go back to having the gas filler behind the license plate so there is no wrong side?

Some police cars had the 4.3 liter from what I read.
... Chris i really like the vibes between you and your dad, the combination is a plus to East Coast Classics. Congratulations on this purchase man.
Absolutely awesome car plus the Lincoln you got from this place. Way to go!!!! Simply put, the car sat outside for many years so use it for a while and the car will naturally heal itself back to good shape... Pops is an awesome guy.

Couldn't agree more and thank for the comment.
My Dad and I did countless trips picking up vehicles all over the North East. Classify those as good times. Great video. Keep them coming.
They had a 4.3 liter V6 that was a very strong engine. I never realized they made a 4.3 V8. Awesome looking car.

Richard Holdener did a build up on a L99 4.3 V8 last year. He posted a bunch videos trying different setups. It's amazing how much power those engines can make.

94-96 had the 4.3l v8 as base engine. It looked identical to the lt1 in appearance but it had dual exhaust

Those are awesome cars Chris. The color is called Dark Green Grey Metallic. Nothing wrong with an L99 4.3 car. That car is a good deal…they will literally run forever with just basic maintenance. Window rollers are a common failure on the GM B cars…super cheap and easy. They run warm by design for emissions. Make sure the fans are working…quick test is to turn on the AC both fans should come on…or pull the plug off of the engine temp module (front of the water pump). Don’t touch the Opti if the car is running ok.
Your dad is awesome! I love how he drives like the sixteen year old me used to drive. Burnouts at every stoplight! And yeah there are pre-COVID car prices, and then today’s pandemic car prices which are just nuts.
Lt1 b body, I used to buy those by the truckload in the early 2000’s. Police retired. Still one of my favorite police cars

@@mph5896 it’s not that bad, reliable, and powerful enough… just not a LT1 kick in the ass…. It’s always amazed me that GM spent all that money to develop the 4.3, and then put it in one car and only for 3 years.
@mph5896

@@sccarguy8242 Yeah, my brother and I weren't a fan. Accidentally bought one with the 4.3l v8, that mistake was not made again. The 94-96 b body was actually mechanically a pretty lousy car. The Lt1 is what made up for it. Back in the day, a police department sold off all their Caprices I bought pallets of their spare parts. It was a small dept with 7-8 cars. I bought $30k + worth of parts for pennies on the dollar. Thats what it took to keep those cars on the road as police cars.

@@mph5896 Ooof lmao. I'm only 19, so trying to find one of those now was a REAL pain in the ass. I was still in the womb when most of them were getting retired hahaha. I didn't want another shitty ass Crown Vic, so I really set my eyes on grabbing up the next 9C1 I could find. But all the ones I DID fine were molested beyond recognition, so I wanted to snatch one at an actual police auction.
Nice video as always! One of the first games I played as a kid was Need for Speed High Stakes. It had a pursuit Chevrolet Caprice and a bunch of other American cars from that era. In love with these land yachts ever since.
Your videos simply make me smile every single time! Your style is so genuine and fun. Please keep up the awesome work!!!!

In the deep south I can see old man river from my house I've seen these in all colors Stock to bubble I guarantee you if you sell it It'll be down here!!!..... between Houston Texas and Charlotte NC I'm the oddball ... I'd rather a DeSoto or a nice daily driver 59 caddy coupe
Another one of my favorites...you get all the good stuff. Well done.
I think this was a great buy. It makes for interesting videos, and Dad likes the car. I hope to see more on this one!
Love the "Bubble" Caprice's. Looks to be in good shape for it's age. Price to me seems high! But since Covid used car prices are crazy!!!!

Flashback to my days working at Avis Rent-A-Car in the early-mid 90's. Driven LOTS of these Caprice's, mostly all with the 4.3 V8. Wicked nice ride!! I vote fix it up, provided the value is there...sorry, no idea if it is. If I had the room...I'd consider one of these. Your Dad is a nut! Wicked fun guy!!
Hahahaha. Your Dad is a character! Looking forward to the restoration. Love these cars.
I personally think $5000 is way to high for a Caprice. It looks like it would be worth $2500-$3000. Could have bought like 2 Crown Vics for that price haha.

Your dad is an absolute riot! Wild boy at heart!
It appears she runs and drives fine therefore a little TLC and you're golden. Also, look into a rehab program for your dad now, lol. Cheers!
Love this car. The color ,the size. Hope it works out for you. Your father is great.Very funny.
You are an animal! I'm impressed with this one. I'd like to find the 9C1 version of a '96 some day. That's one clean car! Hope to see more of it on the channel. Let us know what you do to it and how it works out.
Really enjoyed this video, love it when you buy these old barges. So you have a very full on dad too, I know that struggle 😂
Congratulations! Thats a great find...im looking for one of these since a long time here in Dubai.
As crazy as everything is these days I think you got a workable deal. I hope we see more of your dad in the future he's a awesome guy an proof some of us old men never grow up into grumpy old men. Your a lucky son to have him.
I just love the 91-96 GM B-Body cars, I had a 91 Caprice Classic as a daily driver from 2009 to 2018 ( finally sold it in 2020). It was the best daily driver ever! That color is really nice and the 4.3l baby LT1 is a good motor, mine was in gun metal gray and with the lazy 305 TBI.
Your dad is a madlad.. love the burnouts.
Enjoyed your relationship with your father as I envy you as my father passed. The Caprice is well worth the money and time!

I had 1 94 caprice classic LS Blue on Blue LT1 350V8 4spd auto 4l6E transmission loaded congratulations on this classic
i wasn't kidding about tapping the bumpers with your foot, to check for cyl. damage, which is all connected to the airbag.
Nice. I got a '94 from IAAI for $2100 with fees last year. She rides like a boat. All I had to do was change the spark plugs, wires, and the water pump. Definitely keep her for a little while and enjoy the smooth ride.
Dads… they always have to be so critical. Great purchase. I’m a big crown Victoria guy but I always like those too. You may have paid a little too much for the car but who cares. All the more reason to keep it.

Your dad is crazy! Haha super snappy Good luck with the car
Your dad's a hoot! I had a 94 Caprice Wagon with the 5.7! Loved that car! I made a few modifications, like replacing the stock mufflers and resonators with inexpensive turbo mufflers and an H-pipe, added a 9C1 rear swaybar, better shocks, polyurethane body mounts, and 17 inch Corvette wheels on custom 5inch to 4.5 inch adaptors. Great handling whale of a car! Dare I say "sporty!" I took it to two track days at Summit Point in West Virginia and Eagle's Canyon in Texas and had a blast! I was not the slowest car on the track those days! The price for the smaller engine seems high to me. But, you know, COVID. If I was going to put some money in a car like that it would need to have the 5.7. I've had a couple of LT1's with the Caprice and the 95 Camaro I own now. If it's working, then let sleeping dogs lie. Avoid parts store aftermarket optisparks! Still great find! Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Baltimore!
Leaving the gas station scene made me roll on the floor laughing: Pops teaches son definition of words by explaining that steering is tight not heavy because heavy describes when u pick up a box... Dude, I wanna hang out with these guys. They are perfectly funny....
You wouldn't think it would spin a tire like that. Impressive.
Your Dad is an icon Treasure every moment with him

Yeah that car is a few grand tops.
No doubt, a classic beauty. My father-in-law had a 1992 great car very solid. It was driven to the very end then sold for scrap. Definitely got his money's worth. I'm on Craigslist everyday and I find many cars in good solid condition for less than half of what you paid. And I'm talking about people who you can tell are either original or second owners, honest and in most cases, are willing to negotiate. I kinda think you overpaid but with used car covid prices going through the roof, I do hope you find someone who can appreciate these classic time machines . Good luck
Dad is hilarious. Need more Dad on the channel
Your old man is a riot !
Had a Caprice with a 305, sold like 8 years ago. Saw it two weeks ago it must have 300K on the clock by now; looked fine...
You were actually in NORTHEAST Philadelphia lol. Good luck with the car. It’s gorgeous
For a 26 year old Caprice, the price seems a tad bit high. But other than the crease in the rear quarter, it is a nice looking car. I love your dad! He is a hoot! I laughed my arse of when he did a burn out when you were leaving the auction! Stay safe!
You gotta fix it!!! They ride great!!! And its in very good shape!!!
Hello. Interesting as usual. Given current prices seems like you got a good deal. I hope so. Good luck.

Always loved these.
Beautiful car great choice enjoy it
In my country , this car in good condition is anywhere from $1000. To $2,000 at most ! Nice comfy old car. 👍
Great car! Your dad is cool!
Good luck with it. Nice car.
I think you should keep it. It reminds me a lot of the Lincoln Town Car. A 90s era American luxo-barge that looks, drives, and cleans up nice for not a whole lot of money. Also, you don't see these on the roads anymore. You should keep these things going. After sorting the engine and doing a thorough detail, it will clean up just as nicely as that Town Car. Also, what are the odds that it's also green? LOL!
Love those cars. I always wanted one until I rode in a vic. I liked them a ittle bit more having driven 4.
Hearing your dad’s remarks have me dying!! 😂😂
Love your videos..but love them even more when you’re dad is in them 😂😂
I tried getting this car twice after not meeting reserves. I’d be a buyer if you ever decide to sell.
Hahaha your dad cracks me up. Burnouts and white powder!
I got a '94 a couple weeks ago and paid 2500 for the car, has a 5.7 and only 115k on it. Very little wrong with it cosmetic and nothing wrong performance wise, I hadn't ever heard of one of them until the chance to buy one came up. I never thought of these cars for going as much as what the prices you found, but those cars are amazing. I love mine, great car

I wonder what the pre Covid auction price would be. I’m surprised at the cost of the bodywork for you as a dealer.. You would think a local Dent Wizard could do the work cheaper than $1350.(not including the paint work). Certainly, a nice ride.
Great car and the little v8 is an pretty good motor if was well taken care of, we forget when alot of people relate chevy with 5.3 v8 being a very common and popular motor chevy v8 but the did make other great v8 motors back in the day.

Dad is a gem
Lol your dad is cool as hell, but that’s a beautiful car. I love them caprice classic, I actually was just looking for one, a lot of ‘‘em are still selling at 10k plus great buy.
Keep it, last of an American breed! I would invest whatever it needs. I have a 90 Caprice LS Brougham w/22k orig miles a living room on wheels! Wish I could have a garage full of Caprices!
Great channel, fabulous car. However, I wouldn't pay over $2500 for one that needs what this one needs. That said, I'm looking forward to seeing it restored to its former glory.
Would love one with the 9C1 package!
That was the water pump not opti. Opti is behind it
The rear wheels sit about 3/4 inch forward on these 94-96 Caprice/Impala Lt1 cars. Highly recommend a kit to center the rear wheels. GM really did a disservice on these cars by not correcting the issue. Non the less, great car. The Roadmaster is the only one I haven't owned.
grumpy old men. dad and son great video.
I'm really glad for you but I'm jealous. I had a 1994 Caprice and just last month I was in a crash and it was totaled. I miss it already
Brakes sounds like you may have a leaking caliper. Gran Fury had that same problem with the wheels locking up when braking at a stop light
