1996 Chevrolet Lumina Start Up, Engine, and In Depth Tour
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The first of many new videos and test drives from our dealership, thought you guys would like to see some of out dealership for a change! An In depth tour on the 1996 chevrolet lumina. I go through the interior, exterior, engine, get an exhaust clip and see how it sounds with a short driving clip. One of the cleanest luminas I've ever seen, I show you everything you would probably ever want to see on the Lumina, enjoy!

People may say that cars like this are shit. But people don't realize how good the minimalistic, simple outlook to car design is. It makes them easy, cheap to work on and easy to operate as well.

+toyoscio coming from an abusive lumina driver, i will say its a tank, only one major repair, after i jumped the car 7.5 feet in the air at 105mph, cost only $900 to repair using a mechanic

Mine has 196000 miles and only one major repair when the head gaskets blew. It's outlived several of my other cars. Every time I plan to get rid of it, another car breaks down and the Lumina keeps going .
I spent a lot of my childhood in a 1997 Chevy Lumina so this car was always special to me.

We just did 1800 miles in the Cali/Nevada/Utah desert with zero problems. No working A/C though. It was a grandma car with 73,000 miles, but some sun damage.
What I like about cars form 1990-2004 is that they are so simple on the inside.
That 3.1 always has such a unique sound

I got a 1996 Chevy lumina with only 65k miles on it and I just replaced the battery in it so it starts now it has a maroon exterior and maroon interior, and it s my first car right now I'm trying to fix the windshield wiper fluid pump and the a.c. but if I can't I really don't care
One of my favorite cars of all time.

Wow. That thing is cleeeeean!👍🏻They don't make 'em like they used to, folks. If you're looking for a cheap, reliable and very comfortable daily runner...THESE cars are it!! My '99 Lumina has 253,000+ miles and STILL runs like a top. It's so nice being able to work on it myself and fix things when I need to. Plus, it's comfy and floats like a Cadillac! Parts are cheap and plentiful. Simplicity is beauty, no doubt👌🏻 🇺🇸👆🏻🥇🏆🆙🔝
Great car. Fast and sturdy. Dependable easy to fix engine. Drove it like a maniac at 120 mph first time.
My parents had this car for 15 years and 300,000 miles before she quit. Except it was dark blue.

I wish GM kept making them. I feel they stopped making this kind of car with the 2010 Impala. (The name changed from Lumina to impala since they discontinued the body on frame impala in 1996, but the 1996-2010ish Impalas are basically Luminas).
back in Saudi these things were popular. such nostalgia!
Beautiful Car! Used to have exact same model - Very solid car, hardly had any problem with it - Ran great!
I remember before my grandfather passed away he had a Chevy lumina (I believe he got it in 99) because he had a 1998 dodge spirit and I think he got the lumina at salsbury Chevrolet in Ballston spa, NY and those things rode nicely I think they should bring back the lumina in this style with the original chime when they had it in the early 90s
My first car was a 96 Lumina base model and it was awesome Im now on Lumina 3.0 lol
If you get one, you'll love it. I had a CHevrolet Corsica with the same motor as this as my first car...a blast to drive and perfect for first time drivers.
I remember their was a Police package offered on the Lumina. The best years being '98 and '99 they came with the Police spec 3.8L HO V6. Also the Lumina cop cars had Recaro bucket seats.
To me, the lumina of that generation is the car that just looks great. No reason for it not to be.
I always liked these cars from 1993 through 1998 model years
Great video. I really like that you show us all of the little details of the cars you look at, everything from cupholders to storage compartments, and even vanity mirrors. It's something that nobody ever seems to look at when they do car reviews and tours, it's always nice to see that stuff if you haven't seen it before. Keep up the good work!
The combo of this car being an LS (painted side view mirrors, grey lower mouldings, keyless entry) and having base features like hubcaps and a 3100 makes me think the original owner had it custom ordered. That would explain why its in such great shape. I love mid-nineties GM cars. You could option them out with base and uplevel options to taste. These are very comfy, roomy, and easy to drive cars. Love em. Great video!

Wish you could do a 90-94 Lumina Euro. I love those cars!!!
The chevrolet badge on the front still has the blue plastic!
My Lumina survived two deers, a tractor trailer, an anti-freeze leak, a transmission fluid leak, a power steering leak, worn out spark plugs and broken break lines. I'd replace it but I'm curious to see how much longer it will last.

This is my dream vehicle!! Terrific job bro.
I love my 97' Lumina! IT looks pretty much the same! :)
Nice video man. Pretty clean little Lumina.
Damn, this IS the cleanest Lumina ive ever seen in my life...its cleaner than my Grandmothers which has been in the family since new! Great video! May I ask what camera you use...the video quality is great...
Awesome video, and good engine too
That front overhang is hilarious.
I am a big fan of the Lumina. It is col how there is a van and a car. Nice Video SK04
I sometimes wonder why GM vehicles today should be as good quality like as the ones back in the 90's?
These were good cars.

superapple4ever - Yes, it was stock. Back in the ‘90s and early ‘00s, Chevy cars had a blue emblem, the trucks had a gold emblem and the sportier versions (Z24, GTZ, EuroSport etc.) had a red bow tie that was just an outline. It was a neat way of doing it. Kinda wish they’d bring it back.
the horn sounds like the classic horn they use in movies.
This is a really nice car.
When you put visor down on driver side does it cover part of rear view mirror? Mine does. Mine has the automatic door locks disconnected. How do you reconnect them?
my grandpa had this car until it's transmission broke in 09, now he has a 2010 Honda civic :( I liked the 99 Lumina, but I think the Honda has been more reliable for him.
how many luminas do you usually get? nice video btw. keep up the good work!
holy crap, that lumina looks just like my grandma's car! same color of the paint though :)

haha hope so! thanks for convincing me to go with black lol i was pretty pissed when i notced the left side of the chrome bezel was kinda scratched right out of the box but i assume that would happen eventually? hows ur iphone treating you?

my mom had a gray one y ver este vídeo me trae recuerdos
Bought a one owner lumina 96 model with 97k original miles. Has a tap but once i fix that i should get 250k out of it. With ac an cruise control both working btw
Very Nice for a 96 Lumina. I think it's even nicer than the Gold Lumina. (5 Stars.)
@totallyme17 Its "Speed Controlled Volume" the computer and the stereo are connected, and depending what speed your going, it will change the volume on the stereo. The Higher end Delco stereos from 95 up had this. Our 97 Silverado LT has it.
That's so cool!!
Hola podrán ayudarme como van conectadas todas las lineas de vacío de lumina 96 motor 3.1?
oh awesome! the case i got didnt come with anything. not even a freakin manual lol! anyways thanks for all the info saabkyle! really appreciate it!
Dependable car and great road trip automobile. The Lumina was also Police fleet vehicle for some departments. I would still get another as a secondary back up car,. especially if you want to keep the miles down on your primary that you are still tying to pay off.

The GM W-Body. They ran this platform all the way until 2016. My dad had a Lumina like this in blue, and my grandpap had a LeSabre and now a LaCrosse. They are all fairly mediocre cars, but they sold well.

I've gotten mine up to about 90, but you have to realize that quick and fast are 2 different things. Quick implies that it accelerates at a decent pace, but fast measures how much something can continue to accelerate before it ceases to do so. That's why a Lotus Elise is considered quick and a Bugattii is considered fast...albeit, the Bugattii is both lol. Basically, the lumina is closer to an Elise than it is a Bugattii...not THAT close obviously.

Jonathan Long That is fucking insane. Unfortunately, my Lumina didn't have a good previous owner, so she isn't as mechanically sound or capable as she was from the factory. Muffler fell off I think too, it is so loud and vicious how she sounds now....totally not on purpose.
This car is very nice!!!!
What a nice car
these are great cars.
@FEAROWNAGE it is really 105 being a lumina owner
What do you mean by "our dealership"? You own a dealership?
I almost decided to buy one in the last model year built but for some reason I didn't go look or try to buy one.
are luminas rare or popular?
was this a repo? looks good regardless.
also can you do a rreview of a Saturn IOn perferable 2005-07, since you might not like 03-04 ones unless they got all teh little quirks fix :D

Im getting one when im older
@Andyjames126 Every Lumina from 1996 until they stopped making them in 2001 has bench seats in the front and back. Chevy did it because bucket seats move too much in an accident. I drive a '98 and couldn't be more happy with it. Mine's black, but I like the color scheme of this one.

This the car one off my apartment neighbors have
belive most of these had bench seats. and these have to be done nicely when i dont mind them considering i generally hate cars (i'm a truck/suv type guy) and i'm not a chevy fan either. but this is one exception certainly, i dont mind these...
My family member had a lumina it was a 1997 donated after the member passed. Away
Mu uncle has a black one of these had it for a long time to
the only issue i had with the lumina was the air bags failing to deploy, but other than that, the thing is a fricken tank.
