Update on this Honda. I did find a set of new Honda factory floor mats that match the carpet and we did get the seat repaired by an awesome auto reupholster shop here in town. It is garaged in the winter here but does get driven at least once per week when it is dry out. Just an awesome little car!

My first car is a EG also known as EH2 Honda Civic. Mine is fully stock. My one is a VTi which means it has the 1.6 DOHC VTEC engine with 158 bhp. My friends one is a Lsi which means it has the 1.6 OHC 16 valve engine. It does not have VTEC so it produces 106. Still good power for how light they are

Ah, to be in 2017. Cars like this were already increasingly rare, since they were cheap and gobbled up by high schoolers around the early 2010s. The passage of time and living in a post-pandemic era just means we’ll never return to this point.

I’m in love! I owned a 1993 Civic Si in 1999. This is a car I wish I would have kept. I love the manual locks and windows! Love how the sunroof opens outside rather than tuck in the roof. I also love the little tailgate. If I buy one again I’d like to do a b18c1 gsr swap or even a k20z3 swap. If I had one this clean I’d keep the stock d16 for sure. 4k is an amazing price! I know this video is 7 years old but damn! Mine was red too! This makes me miss mine sooooo much! I traded mine for a 2000 Civic si. Great car but I miss the hatch so much

Terrence Chin The NADA book price was $3500 but I paid a bit more (I did a payment plan with the owner and paid a bit extra in order to ensure I would get the car). Original cars, unmodified, especially performance models don't always follow book price. Case in point, look at what low mileage Fox Body Mustangs are bringing these days on eBay. They are 2-3 time higher than NADA and Kelly Blue book values.

I'd leave it as is. Probably wouldn't even tint. No intake, no mods. But I'd replace the the paper filter with a K&N in the factory box. (Probably know this but use NGK spark plug's. ) Just enjoy it as is.

  • @travisp11

    @travisp11

J., believe it or not, that was all that the original owner used for spark plugs. I even found a set of new ones, in the box, next to the spare tire! V-max or something like that. He changed them on a regular basis, this was all in his car log. I am contemplating a K & N drop in filter as we have that in all of our vehicles.

    J. Dalton IMHO 10% ethanol blend gas lowers fuel economy. Luckily, out here I can still get 87 octane non-ethanol fuel. Costs 30 cents more per gallon but I think the mileage is better and it doesn't wear out your fuel system components as fast as ethanol.

I just picked up a bone stock 2000 Honda Civic 5 speed hatchback in red, off the second owner, and I'm loving it! In my honest opinion, the 5th generation Civics in perfect condition like you have are basically all gone now, and if you're someone who is looking for a mint Civic hatchback, clean 6th generation hatchbacks are still plentiful and you can still scoop one up for a good deal without looking too hard.

Great find, so rare to find red EG's with healthy clear coat in tact. Interesting the difference between EG variants in Australia vs US. Here we have the Breeze (base model), GL, GLi, VTi and then the quite rare Si with the D16A8. I have a VTi with the D16Y1. All models apart from the pov pack Breeze have electric everything, but none ever got cruise control, and all models had grey interior trim.

Great video man! Hey can you please 🙏🏽 get a Go Pro and do some driving vids on that pretty rare Civic Si that you have! You are lucky to have scored that Honda! I've only seen a few of those Si hatchback variants on the road and I've been into Honda's since i was 13 and learning how to drive my uncle's 1993 Acura Integra GS-R 4 door manual transmission. 1st car i was taught to drive was that integra 5 speed stick. Right now I'm whipping a 1993 Honda Accord EX Coupe/5 speed manual transmission. I luv the way that car looks for some reason! Sharp, unique, and conservative at the same time. It also has the sealed glass headlights like yours just a different size and shape.

The exhaust on mine appears stock but a bit loud, so I'm just trying to find out what it's actually supposed to sound like. That's surprisingly hard to find on KZread.

Nice find and an appreciating classic. Not sure you'll get what you're asking for it, but I bet it would bring good money on BAT. I've been driving a blue 92 for over 20 years, great car! If you want to keep it close to stock, the only two mods I think are worthwhile are a strut tower brace, which I think the Si should have come with from the factory, and a set of lightweight 14" alloy wheels to replace the heavy stock steelies. I'm partial to the 7 spoke 63852s which I've been running on mine for years. They are 11.5 lbs vs the steel 18 lbs, so you save 26 lbs of rotating mass just like that. They are similar to the 8 spoke HX wheels and most can't tell the difference. A K&N type intake tube and cone filter will give you a midrange bump but at the cost of a lot of noise. They're fine but don't lose the original intake. I have tint on mine and no regrets as I live in a place that gets pretty hot in the summer. Other than that, though, I would leave it alone. Replace parts as needed with Honda OEM and it'll last forever. And yes, only NGK plugs.

haqitman we are gonna hold on to it for a while. Once it turns 25 we can get classic insurance for it since it only is driven once per week and only in nice weather.

haqitman You suggested many of the mods that I have considered. We are gonna keep it tint free just because it is such a unique look that you just don't see anymore but I am considering some lightweight alloys to save some weight on each wheel. Awesome suggestions and thank you!!

Actually I would recommend you tint it. We have had the same Mazda for 43 years and the tinting brings out the paint and really makes it pop. The red you have fades very badly. The back bumper will be where you will first notice it and I can see it a bit on yours. The cover above the rear screen or "spoiler" also fade fast. Civics from the mid 70's were mad to drive...they were very light and had torque aplenty.

Club 1 Fan This car is garaged daily so that will help sun fading. We are debating a new paint job with Honda paint but are not sure yet what to do.

Travisp11 O.K., take it from me, do not respray the Honda. Serious collectors will tell you there are criteria for an old "original" car. Along with no mods, another is original engine/running gear, log books, original purchase receipts, original interior AND original paint. The paint and engine are the most important original aspects of a vehicle. Yours already looks immaculate. You can always spend a few hundred bucks on a detail but be careful as some may ruin the paint with "swirl" marks but you have already cleaned it yourself. The sun is the worst thing but you are garaging it. Just leave it. It's brilliant the way it is and much better than modern rubbish including the new Civic which is a complete departure from the original Civic ethos of a small car that is highly manoeuvrable with good visibility that is easy to park.

This car was completely maintained so I have not had to do anything to it. Keep an eye on changing your timing belts and valve adjustments, as well as regular oil changes and you should be set.
