That was a very creative use of a clamp for dent pulling!

Well, I was facing same problem: new LED taillights was no working. I was no able to found the error. Every el.line, was going out the Jeep - works perfectly. Was watching all instructions by the KZread videos - the easys was yours. But - Nothing was working. So I was happy enough, had a date with my electric - fast. The specialist found out: Inside the factory which assembled the LED lamp, cables-colores was changed...

Sorry to see that extra hidden rust behind the tail light but the lights you have chosen look really good and work much better than the crusty old ones. I’m sure the extra effort will be well worth it..Also another upside for me at least is that after you’ve welded/made good that light, you might be tempted to by a spray can of body colour and just give the very top of those arches a bit of a touch-up (pleeeeease!) 😊👍🇬🇧

Keep your head up, at least you get to do more welding.

Great progress Elin but I felt your frustration at the rust... how very strange that just the lamp housing and underlying panel should be so badly affected? Kind regards, Richard.

I wasn't that frustrated, just annoyed that something else slowed me down. You know this is not a big issue, easy to fix, just time taking. Judging by the condition of the metal plate inside the taillight I think the housing was letting water in every time it rained and then slowly drained around the bolts causing that corner to be always wet.

the reason why you have 4 powered cables going to the tail lights is because in some other countries like Australia for eg we have a orange turn signal light separate from the brake light

it turned out the 4th wire was ground. However the connector from the old taillight didn't have the metal clip inside the 4th pin so I couldn't use it.

Looking at the rust damaged rear quarter around that light, it makes me wonder if that side of the Jeep has been immersed in water at some time.. The frame seemed worse on that side as well. Anyway, great job on the electrics Elin. Presume you will have to patch the rear quarter ? (Bondo , ha-ha).

The right light ran out of blinker fluid, thus losing its rust inhibitor properties.

Why not use the old screws in place of the new ones that have the nut on the back?

Because the lens on the new taillight is screwed from behind. I can't install it after the taillight is mounted on the body. I guess that was the reason why they went with studs

Bad ground. Make sure your taillight housing has a good connection to the body and the signal light bulb has a good connection to the housing.

Yeah, but I couldn't use the bolts from inside the light as once it is mounted on the body I wouldn't be able to install the lens, its screws go from behind, unlike the old one.

If you call your channel ‘Rusty Beauties’ you gotta expect some rust ! Weird how that light unit filled with water... it obviously leaked out slowly through the back and ate away at the metal over time... maybe when it was sat for so long. However behind the other light the car could have used a good wash !

I guess, that was what happened. Yes, I could have cleaned it a little. I wasn't planning to mount it permanently yet. I just wanted to test if it worked so I pushed the studs in the holes to connect the ground and then..... I forgot LOL I got annoyed too when I was editing the video. Never leave stuff for later I guess :)

That's unfortunate about the rust under that tail light. I hate rust with a passion.
