My first OTR truck was a ‘94 FLD 120 flat top with 12.7 Detroit 430/470 and 10 speed. May be nostalgia but that is still one of my favorite trucks. Worked hard all day hauling Sheetrock. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!

A FLD 120 with a series 60 is the best way to financial prosperity in trucking. I call my 98 the printing press.

I'm not talking smack but I love the thumb nail it looks like a bad ass single axle or 2 axle freightliner I love single axle or 2 axle cause I love the west coast hay wagon look and cause I live here in Cali but I love 3 axles to or tandem axle trucks too

More of 1994 freightliner fld 120 restoration. I love it so much.

Ryan, love your persistence and tenacity. It will be a great satisfaction to see the FLD back to its old glory. In my humble opinion with all the equipment you move around, it would be wise to prevent a back injury by wearing a back brace, better safe than sorry. You have to back the brakes off with the 7.16 bolt in slack adjuster to get the drum off

I wasn’t try to get the drum off. The shoes were frozen to the drum from sitting for 10 years.

We had this problem with the hood hinges on Freightliners when I was a school bus mechanic, they eventually gave us a recall kit where you back up the hinges with metal plates and fill the cracks with bondo.

A bro cage the brakes those cage bolts are on the sides of the brake chamber each chamber has their own bolt or back the brakes off just a suggestion bro

You dont think a truck mechanic doesnt already know that?

Pry outward on the mushroom looking piece on the slack adjusters. Then you can back the brakes off.

My honest opinion...part it out. I have been a fleet maintenance supervisor of Peterbilt concrete mixers for over 25 years. You can remove the slack adjuster, put a large pipe wrench on the S cam shaft.

It has been sitting for over 10 years, it could be a challenge to follow your method. I found the easiest way in this situation to take the wheel off and beat the drum. And it worked well. I appreciate your suggestion.

@@truckingandfixing My apologies if i came off self important, i dont have eyes on it, but its not a spring brake so my first step is to back off the slack adjuster in any way possible so the rollers are fully retacted into the s cam, if its frozen then it would take a few whack with a small sledge or like i had to do is remove the slack adjuster and grab a 3 foot pipe wrench, that is if the shoes are rusted to the drum, different scenario if hub is corroded to drum. I spent the last 30 years rebuilding old mixer trucks and semis in Alaska, we have to rebuild our older stuff a lot.

Ryan i really hope you are wearing some sort of knee pads. It really won't take long to get knee pain. Highly recommend

Very unsafe. Never go under a truck without a stand or wheels on it.

Why not sell it to JC Smith Projects who lives in Ohio & buys old trucks like this. He is on KZread.
