1994 Claud Butler Bike Restoration Shimano STX Group Set Full Mountain Bike Build ASMR

Спорт

I found this bike on Facebook Marketplace listed for £40, thankfully the seller was happy to let go of it for £30.
The build took me about 4 weeks in my spare time to complete and I spent roughly £50 on new cables, pedals, grips, saddle and paint.
Paint is from Spray.bike, unfortunately both cans had internal clogs causing paint to stick, splatter and jam the valve open. After applying a little heat I was able to unclog the cans and had just enough paint left to finish the job.
I stick by Spray.bike as it really is the best rattle can paint I've ever use and after getting in touch Graff City who supplied the paint I was given a 75% refund.
The pedals and grips came courtesy of Chain Reaction Cycles final sale and the saddle, cables and new chain came from a well known Chinese budget retailer and they are surprisingly really good quality.
Thanks for watching and if you liked the video please like it and subscribe for more of the same.

Thanks for sharing. You did a great job. Thats a lovely looking bike. I've got a 1989 Peugeot laser that I've part restored nice to ride but very heavy.

Thanks, yeah this is not a light bike for it's size. I'd saw an old puegot with colour coded brakes, don't know what model it was but I was very close to buying it. Hope you finish it soon.

@@Adambuildsbikes My Peugeot is mainly white with flashes of yellow and red. According to a sticker it was built in Canada but sold here in England.

I like to get the seat tube and seat post super clean. I usually take some steel wool on a coat hanger attached to a drill to get grime out of seat tube.

That's a great Idea. I'd seen a few others using drill attachments called scuff balls to polish things up, but the coat hanger and wire wool thing seems like it would do the same job. Thanks

It's not too bad. Rode it at the end of the video for a bit. I think if I were to be going out any decent distance I might straighten it up a bit. The bike is a bit small for me though.
