Great video! This is a Gunmetal Gray Metallic car, pretty rare color actually. Looks beautiful with the red interior. This car is in beautiful condition as well. The 3400 and 3.4 DOHC engines are two very different animals. Their bottom end is similar but the top end is where they differ greatly. The 3400 is a pushrod 12 valve motor with cast irons heads whereas these 3.4 DOHC motors have 4 cams and 32 valves with aluminum heads. These DOHC motors or LQ1's love to rev and have a very distinctive sound when pushed hard. Also, many people don't know about the 4 door versions of these. Not to be confused with the Euro sedans, GM offered what was called Euro 3.4 sedans. They had the same drivetrain as a Z34 but in a sedan body. Only made from 92-94, all were automatics, (the Z34's could be had with a 5 speed manual from 91-93), and were only available in Bright Red, White, or Black.

I am from Alabama and I owned a 1992 Chevrolet Lumina Z34 in the 5-Speed variant when I was in high school and it was one of the most fun cars I have owned! 210 HP! The BOSE Sound system in this car was insane as it had a factory BOSE amp in the trunk for extra power. I wish I still had that car today.

There were two main differences between the Delco Bose Silver and Gold. The Gold had a dedicated amp for each speaker. I remember how the Silver sounded because a friend of mine had a 92 Euro back in 96. Good times

I'm sorry, friend, but I don't know how in the world you can speak of the Z34 and NOT mention the chronic issue of the alternator failing.... One of the happiest days of my life was when I drove my Z34 to a local junk yard and said good-bye. Mechanics used to cry about the troubles they experienced (having to remove the left front tire) just to get at that alternator. Every alternator failure was another thousand dollars - and that happened at least 4 times. Yes - I can appreciate your nostalgic celebration of the era - but THAT car itself was the worst lemon of my life. Still - you make good videos.

My heart skipped when pulled the door open by the handle. My mother's '91 had to get repaired every couple years until just used it to "pop" the door open then grab top of the door to open. Never had another issue last 7 years after that.

I had a 1991 Lumina 3.1 with the "euro" appearance package. These were not bad cars at all. Decent gas mileage, cheap to repair, cost a lot less to purchase than imported competition. The 3.1 was pretty gutless, but the loud exhaust and sensitive throttle mapping made you feel like it had power until you floored it and realized 25% throttle was really 80% throttle ;). I noticed the same thing with a friend's 98 v6 Camaro. The worst things about these cars were the rear brake calipers failing and changing the rear spark plugs! I'd hesitate to call this a "sports car". More of a "sporty" car designed to compete against the Ford Taurus, Camry and Accord.

I wanted one of these so bad back in the day but alas I never got one, I did have a 1991 olds 88 that I owned for many years my dad ended up driving it back and forth to work until he eventually got a vehicle for him and sadly I let it to sit outside and run down for years and only got a couple hundred dollars out of it.

Came across this video and had to watch. I owned a black 91 Lumina Z34 auto and also had a love hate relationship with it. Little things seemed to always be breaking on it but damn that ride and the sound of the engine were fantastic. To this day, still one of the best riding cars I've ever owned. Would love to get my hands on one again. Eli, what was the dealer asking for that car?

Only if not checked and changed when they're suppose to be. GM recommends not going past 60,000 miles between intervals. Depending on year of LQ1, whether it's a interference or non interference motor will determine it's survivability when the belt lets go. These motors also have a timing CHAIN, some owners aren't even aware of this.

My first car! I had a 1992 in "Torch" Red lol with a beige interior. It was the WORST/Best car I ever owned (worst because it was so unreliable, best because it was still my first and fun to drive despite it being so damn big)

Beige interior in a Z34 is VERY rare. Most were Medium Slate Gray interior cars or had the red interior like this one.
