I miss the state championship games that were played outside.

The beginning of the resurgence of Katy Tiger football. Twelve more Title game appearances since that day, with 7 more Championship Trophies in the case. What I remember most about this game was the brutal cold, fueled by a stiff North wind.

Its a shame that Plano isn't as good as they used to be like they were for this game

Retrogamer1246 Three schools in one town make it tough to compete with Allen now.

Paul D. Douglas That it is, yet I find it cool how even after Plano split, Collin County is still considered to be the Texas high school football capital as of right now if I recall correctly.

It's amazing how many competitive teams reside within the Collin County borders. Frisco itself has 9 high schools. Plano and Celina hold 7 state championship trophies each. Allen has 5. Prosper has 1.

All the good players probably go to Allen now, but katy is even better than it was back then

True. It's called demographic changes. It's not the same kind of people that it was from 1960-1995 when they had all winning seasons and 7 state titles with 2 state title losses. Even in the year 2000 Plano had over 50% foreign-born peoples. It may even be 60% now. Foreign-born persons don't grow up in the Texas football culture. It's a different world, really.
