it was Marseille, CSKA, Club Brugge and Rangers actually. the other group was AC Milan, Porto, PSV Eindhoven and IFK Goteborg. your point is still valid though lol crazy how the inaugural champions league didn't have representatives from Spain, England or Germany. Rangers actually beat Leeds United in the qualification rounds

It was a deliberate concession of a penalty kick. There was zero attempt to play the ball. He played the man and cut across him with both feet. The match was fixed with bribes to several CSKA Moscow players (the same players who had defeated holders Barcelona in the Camp Nou eliminating them in the qualifying round just months earlier). A disgrace. Marseille should have been stripped of their title and AC Milan and Rangers should have replayed the final.

To right I followed rangers every where in Europe that season We were cheated so blatantly it still hurts and I'm in my50s And still think about often that team was special they never New when they were beaten Anyway Alan here's to 55 buddy

@@dee4732 should have won the game at Ibrox, then the sons of wullie would have made the final. A good campaign, but they let themselves down by giving CSKA one of their only two points in ther group.

@oli76130 Yep, it was in the press at the time, the players were checked out. Sure Marseille were at all sorts of shit back then, brought up for corruption in 1993, Bernard Tapie.

Bruges paid in semifinal, even AC Milan & Berlusconi paid for the final... Believe what you want. I don't believe the Russians, before and now !

This was 1993, Russia was weak at everything, they didn't need to complain, unless they had to, but they did here, they had no chance of ever winning that group. Basil Boli remember him, corruption charges too. Bernard Tapie was implicated on all charges with the club's carry on, their championship and also filtered into Europe. Everybody knows this. Once corrupt, always Stained.

What about the fact their championship was in winter break and they had to play friendlies in Spain, or to play their european legs in Germany ? They surprised Barcelona in August - the champions, to say they weren't that weak, moreover with a russian team in the last 8 of Euro '92 one year before - and then were out of form in March, that's why they lost. If that russian story of poisoned food was true, UEFA would have punished Marseille even more as they did - the sanctions were already huge

Tu vois pas que c'est que des tocards en France? Match truque.. c'est sur que quand tu as Boli, Pele, Voller, Deschamps et Angloma sur le terrain et que tu dois battre la redoutable equipe de Moscou, il faut a tout prix truquer le match.. en fait Tapie est un mec absolutement stupide qui va prendre le risque d'acheter une equipe bidon pour que ces internationaux gagne le match...

Les Russes n'avaient pas repris leur championnat, ils jouaient des matchs amicaux en Espagne. Déjà au match aller (en Allemagne) ils étaient nuls mais l'OM n'avait pas fait mieux qu'un match nul... C'est marrant tous ceux qui parlent de triche 30 ans après 😂

D'où sors-tu qu'il faut qu'il ait le ballon? Il pousse son ballon au bon moment et se fait faucher. Qu'il ait le ballon ou non il y a faute.

Jusqu'à preuve du contraire pour qu'il y ait justice il faudrait que le match soit avéré être corrompu. Or c'est pas du tout le cas. Marseille est bien champion d'Europe 1993.
