1993 Honda CR250, Steering Stem Bearing & Fork Seals, Project 93 Canada's Worst Dirt Bike Rebuild

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Welcome to our latest project video where we're tackling the restoration of a classic 1993 Honda CR250 dirt bike. In this episode, we'll walk you through the process of installing the steering stem bearings and replacing the fork seals on the front shocks.
First up, we'll show you how to properly install the steering stem bearings. This critical component ensures smooth steering and control while riding. We'll demonstrate the steps needed to remove the old bearings, inspect for damage, and then carefully install the new bearings to ensure optimal performance.
Next, we'll dive into the front shocks and guide you through the process of replacing the fork seals. Over time, fork seals can wear out, leading to leaks and diminished suspension performance. We'll show you how to disassemble the front shocks, remove the old seals, and install new ones to restore the forks to their former glory.
But before we even get to these tasks, we'll give you a peek at the frame restoration process. After powder coating the frame, we meticulously inspected it for any damage and performed any necessary repairs. Sandblasting ensured a clean surface for the powder coating and helped us achieve a professional finish.
Join us on this journey as we breathe new life into this iconic off-road machine. Don't forget to like, share, and subscribe for more restoration projects and maintenance tips. Let's get wrenching!

Thanks for the insight into these forks. I am working on a worst 92. You should check the oil height as well to make sure both forks work the same. 118 mm for std height on a 93

You got lucky with that frame. usually bikes that old the frame is beat to shit and collapsed in on the bottom. Nice little trick there with the old seal for people that don't have the exact tool!

Thanks a lot for the comment! I wish we got as lucky as you think with the frame but in the previous case repair video I did a lot of welding to the frame to build up all the low spots. The older frames are hard to repair because they usually are badly damaged. We got it done none the less.. and the old seal trick can work but obviously it’s better to use a proper tool. Thanks again for watching

@@Dirtbikerepair Ha, when I wrote the comment I thought about saying "if you didn't fix or weld up the frame" you got lucky...

I'm sure you know this but take and put those races in the freezer for a few hours and that makes things easier as well.

Great comment! Actually I normally do freeze most of my bearings and in the situation the races.. I probably should have mentioned that for all the viewers. Thanks for being that up, totally slipped my mind in the editing step.

Thank you! Hey unrelated question, is the thread size for the flywheel m27×1.0L?? My handbook doesnt specify and i cant find a answer online.

I believe from 1992-2001 it is a m27x1.0 left hand. I can’t remember if it’s the same for 2002-2007. I would have to check. But I’m 99% sure about 92-2001
