Only up to 1/3 but what a race; 2 wheel drive, 4 or all wheel drive, 4 cyl turbos, natural V8s. and everything else in between. NOW this is racing.

RIP Denny Hulme, I will remember you as an F1 champion and you would've won the 1966 24 hours of Le Mans and there are many people until now who still believe that you and Ken Miles should've won that race. The Bathurst 1000 is said to be your favorite race and you suffered a heart attack while racing in your favorite race.

Agree...both Ford and Holden had a Sook and just had any competition banned....Holden may have still been around if they had of developed a competitive Car instead of refusing to move with technology and stayed with the same formula of taking a RWD Family sedan to the Race Track...the Sierra was designed to Race....and the GTR was designed to WIN RACES

I heard that they forced Nissan GTR to carry extremely heavy load in order to be in the race. That is a discrimanation toward Japanese technology innovation and their people for sure. It's like forcing black basketball players playing basketball with only one hand and the other one tying behind their backs in order to compete. Imagine if the GTR had Ford logo on it, what would the organization say and do to it? They would be very proud and claiming Ford made best cars in the world and by winning the whole lap over their competitors. In some races, GTR was leading and the cameras were focusing only on Ford cars at 90% of the race when they were in 2nd and 3rd position. And when the Ford car was leading, the cameras were focusing only on Ford at 90% of the race. The way the commentaters said to make an impression that GTR cars were cheating.

They weren't ubusing them because they won the race. The Ford Sierra crossed the finish line first. The Nissan crashed, and after the Ford had won the race, the officials announced that they had in fact stopped the race before the Nissan crashed. Problem is they didn't tell the crowd or the race teams about the race having been cancelled. Until everyone, including people, was watching on TV until it was ussumed the Ford had won. I was a ford fan and a dick Johnson fan but not particularly a sierra fan. The ten or so people in the shed I was in were not mad a Nissan one, there were two Nissan fans in that shed we were mad that the Nissan crashed and the Ford won but was robbed of the victory. It about being fair and having sportsmanship. Not about a Nissan winning. I've owned over 60 cars. 3 dastun 1200s and a couple blue birds. If you cancel a race you better tell everyone instantly. Not 20-30 minutes later. Why do you think Holden fans were mad as well as Ford fans? What is the point of cancelling a race for safety reasons if you don't tell any of the drivers? To the point dick Johnson cross the finish line in first place and the skyline completed the race with one wheel hanging off?

This is when the Bathurst race went stupid. The whole point of the race was touring cars. Back in the 70s you could blueprint certain engine components, some safety equipment eg racing harnessing, ect. That's why car manufacturers sold limited performance vehicles to the public, to allow the manufacturers to showcase their products. These days the cars aren't touring cars there race cars. Boring, unimaginative, and the spirit and guts ripped out of the sport. Can't even have a couple of beers on the mountain without having arsehole security waving their fingers under your nose. Can't be bothered with the sport anymore.
