The greatest pitching performance in World Series history! And I was lucky enough to have attended it. A few years ago, like 2017, Jack Morris sat next to me at the bar of The Original Pancake House in Roseville. We talked about baseball, St Paul since we both attended schools there and, of course, pancakes. Though I believe he had a Belgian waffle.

I was 10 as well. My dad had fallen asleep in the living room somewhere around the 8th inning, and I moved to the kitchen TV so I could have a bowl of cereal and watch. Just after Larkin lifted that high fly into left to win it, I walked back into the living room, gave my dad a poke, and said “Hey dad, the Twins just won the World Series.” He said “Hey look at that,” gave me a big smile and a hair tousle, and went back to sleep. I went back into the kitchen to finish my cereal. Cinnamon Toast Crunch never tasted so sweet.

They are my one exception to the question would you rather have a really good team for a long time or have a shorter reign with multiple championships. I would answer championships 99% of the time. But I'd rather have this Braves era as opposed to the Marlins who parlayed 2 wild card years into championships despite being dreadful most of their other seasons.

So many easter eggs in this classic! My favorite 2 are when Kent Hrbek gets "hit" by the pitch in the 4th (John Smoltz to this day doesn't believe it and neither do I) and when Terry Pendleton "fouls" the ball on the 3rd strike in the 8th (Jack Morris to this day doesn't believe it and neither do I) - I know hindsight is always 20/20, but if these plays don't happen, the entire momentum of the game changes

One of the Best world series, what won the series for the twins was the fake by chuck at second base and the mistake by Lonnie Smith of not running. But both teams deserved to win.

It's true! Nobody went home a loser tonight, Except the Braves. It's not like the record book shows both teams on the left and none on the right. Yes, I know he meant it metaphorical.

2:40:47 I forget the color mans name (Tim McCarver?) but regardless, he make a statement that bears repeating. He says that if the Twins fielders, don't pretend that they have the ball, when they didn't. That the Braves would have scored and won the World series, already. I used to look at plays, like that and come to the same conclusion, what I was 9. ;) First thing, when you look at things that way. You only look at he big picture, which is, one evont. Every part of the equation, changes. Who hits next?, who pitches next. Who stays in the game? Who leaves and tries to steal? In fact, so many of the detaiis change, I'm laughing at the simple mindedness of the man who made the original question/statement.

2:21:12 Superstitions are a way to feel like you have some control. Out of an uncontrollable event. As we gain wisdom , we start to realise this fact but when presented, whith a situation like this. Fans, who have been there before, like to look for a stgn, anything to lower your stress. The last thing you want to hear, after 7 games and 9 inninges, of scorless ball, is for your hometown commentator, say 'Jack Morris, is trying to complete, 9 inning shutout!!! I would have lost mu mind, if I was a Twins fan! But these superstitions are silly...right?
