Was this the last time Windy Hill hosted a game for premiership points? Total match broadcast time: North Melbourne vs Melbourne - 40 minutes 36 seconds Essendon vs Sydney - 16 minutes 31 seconds

No. Essendon hosted one more match at Windy Hill the following week against the Brisbane Bears where they won by 45 points before only 12,970 fans. This was however the last match broadcast from the ground, the Bears match a week later wasn't shown. Interesting to note the outer shed of Windy Hill had been turned into seating by this time, no doubt part of the reason for the poor attendance figures as the capacity had fallen by quite a way. Only 14,341 vs Sydney and 12,970 vs Brisbane Bears and 13,501 vs Richmond in the latter stages of the season probably sealed its fate as a venue in the end. Interestingly, at the time it wasn't intended to be the last match at the ground, it was put to a members vote over the Summer as to whether to move to the MCG or remain at Windy Hill, the former won a rather divisive vote.
