This was the golden age of AFL Football. So much better than today's defensive football football.

Princes Park looked a lot different back then. Loved watching the old tv commercials, some were a bit corny. Thanks for the share.

All the grounds back then look terrible , muddy . Is it cause under 19 s and reserves played earlier ?

Both games did have the reserves played as curtain raisers - not sure about under 19s, as they used a different fixture than the open-age grades due to none of the interstate sides having U/19 teams

Purely the quality and technology behind drainage was not what it is today. Also keep in mind this ground was used as Carlton's training hime
