I remember backing Generous in the Dewhurst at 33-1 or bigger but didn't bet him in this race as i thought of him as a doubtful stayer, how wrong could I be he pissed it

I backed him ante post at 33/1 and also got 33/1 ante post for the Irish Derby , he made me a small fortune :)

I agree Eddie, Mystico should have been a fantastic miler but was put in the Derby & like Mister Baileys his race career was finished by doing so, Thankfully the great Henry Cecil resisted the temptation to put Frankel in the 2011 Derby and trained him to maximise his racing potential

Steve O' 71 Yes Mystiko was a fast horse and a miler through and through, very impressive in the guineas and too good a horse to risk in the Derby, but then again he was trained by one of the most optimistic trainers ever in Clive Brittain

It is a travesty that Frankel was never allowed to show what he could do in the Derby or the Arc. His progeny (including Cracksman) have proved their potential as stayers. To be the greatest on the flat, a horse needs to have done something in these two races or the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. Too many soft option group 1 races at shorter distances have ruined flat racing's credibility.

Steve O' 71 I think frankel could have won over 12 furlongs, but not at that stage. Frankel run with the choke out in the Guineas and almost got beat in the st James palace stakes partly because of that.

Steve Edge not necessarily, you can be a specialist miler or sprinter, or an out and out stayer. I prefer versatility so I rate Sea the stars almost as highly though. Frankel should have run in the arc in his last race as a 4 year old rather than the champion stakes though.

Yes, Clive would never duck a race because a certain 'star' horse was entered and I respect him for that attitude in running his horses where he believed they should be, unfortunately this time it didn't happen for Mystico

Just my opinion,, I think generous would have beaten any Derby winner,, up to today,,,

Overated g goode said marju tailed off turning into the straight, having backed him in the Guineas when fancied, but 16_1 in derby had him ew, good horse
