They gave that race to Gary Stevens. It was his birthday that day. It was a complete setup fashion. The fraction was all in favor of Charlie's horse. Ruhlmann ruled that day!!!!!!!!!!

I’ll never forget the time Steven’s wired the Distaff of a filly named One Dreamer, who beat a decent Distaff field with this similar type of ride. Wire to wire at like 30-1 or more Crazy the way he can send and yet still get the his mount to conserve enough for the latter part of the race.

Charlie changed to a scissor bit so he could be rated. He was pure speed who needed the lead.

I was at the track this day. Ruhlmann was always best in the early part of the year and was nearly unbeatable when he was on.

Still kicking myself for getting off Ruhlman that day. He was an interesting horse because if any hors was within sight of him he would put on the brakes, if no one close to him he would never stop.
