The final race for the 1990 season and a star is born, Nissan finally stamps its authority on the Australian Group A scene which changed the face of Australian Touring Car History. A great triumph for Jim Richards & Fred Gibson's team. Formula Sierra's amazing run was broken in just three races since Godzilla's debut.     Attesa awd system is so good, makes the heavy GTR so nimble around corners and able to power out.

    Nissan read the rules and used the best product available, if only ford or holden could have homologated awd products things might have been different. Instead everyone cracked out the tissue box and the rest is history.

    There was no complaints when Ford had no competition & everybody went out & got into turbo Fords (which wasn't sold in Australia), then Nissan who had been competing for a lot of years built a better mouse trap, (which was an import) then the tears came from the other teams so as to cobble the Nissan, power, weight etc etc change the rules now look where we are, no Fords, no Holdens.

    I think Ford in particular during this period of time missed a real chance to at least get even with Nissan during this time. Could've easily homologated the 4x4 Sierra Cosworth for Group A in 1991 & 92 and maybe pegged Godzilla back a bit! My guess is the reason they didn't is because Group A ended in all but Australia and a handful of other countries after 1990. Big time miss on Ford's part all the same

    Those sierra's smoked a lot. Especialy the 05 brock mobile. Also I was at this race at the dogleg. I was 14

    I suspect they had to run those sierras on the rich side to make the Turbos live ?

    The " Fatal 4-Way " Took 2 cars to beat Brock that year....... Was there that day at turn 9

    @@carisi2k11 FUrther research tells me i was at Suttons corner ( uphill left hander that starts the run up to the dogleg )

    @@shanebarker3131 obviously not 1990 but swapped cars on plenty of occasions, won at least two Bathurst races using spare cars. What goes around comes around you might say. Lucky for the sport Nissan did come along otherwise we’d still watching a field of Sierras running around now...

    ATCC Should be brought back...had enough of the boring arse VB Supercabs and its bogan followers. Ford and Holden destroyed ATCC simply because they couldnt build anything competitive enough to win and the reason they both went broke in Australia.

    You should add Channel 7 and mainly Mike Raymond to that with holden & ford if they didn't win it was no good or bad for the sport.

    @@trevorgreen9069 Mike Raymond was a typical Bogan...hated anything that wasnt a Ford or Holden...he kept saying the r32 gtr was going to break all the time and putting it down...obviously gutted when it won bathurst...he was also another one trying to get it banned and hobbled
