1989 SPECIAL REPORT: "THE JIM CROW ERA IN RICHMOND, VIRGINIA
Jim Crow laws were state and local laws that enforced racial segregation in the Southern United States. These laws were enacted in the late 19th and early 20th centuries by white Southern Democrat-dominated state legislatures to disenfranchise and remove political and economic gains made by black people during the Reconstruction period.. Jim Crow laws were enforced until 1965.

I'm from Richmond Virginia born and raised. I'm so thankful to those who fought for our civil rights back then that some people take for granted now.
The owner of this channel is literally a gift from God above. Please keep spreading knowledge. I promise it makes a different 💜

There was a black man that lived to 130 years old...I think he passed in the 70s but he talked about how he was a slave and loved Abraham lincoln. Just fascinating. As a kid I loved to sit down and talk with elderly people.
Thank you...connecting dots after being a resident of Richmond 12 years ago.🏆

The vegas valley is no different from Virginia in all areas. That's why they use to call it "Mississippi Of The West"
I was a white kid in Beckley West Virginia moved to Richmond in the 60s been here my whole life my Mom married a man out of Richmond who to this day is a strong racist. What a lot of people don't understand is a person like that is not happy they are mean they are void of love in their lives. And most time they are cowards and they take their actions out on their kids I was not to have anything to do with blacks and if I did I was beaten. Went everything against my DNA I couldn't understand this. It wasn't a social program that changed me it was the Lord Jesus Christ changed me from the inside out and getting out into the real world. You could learn a lot about racism from a guy like myself. Yes I'm white but I consider myself a victim of racism from my stepfather.

9:20 her accent reminds of the Boston Brahmins who were descendants of English settlers of Boston and the became the WASP elite of the City, similar occurrence in Tangiers Virginia of English accents somewhat surviving in the new world.
