Reliability indeed!

Back in the days when peugeot produced great cars, then they became ugly and bulbus but now we see some good Peugeots returning. Such detail in the old topgear programmes which is just what im into!

These are so beautifull

they should bring an updated 608 out but sadly i dont see it happening

1989 Old Top Gear - Peugeot 605

I had one of these about 20 years ago, nice car to drive ...when it worked. Difficult to work on and complex for for the time.

had one too only fault we had was gear linkage kept popping out quick easy roadside fix though

Ours was silver with full body kit it got lots of admiring looks

Goffy was distracted, it seems.

So, the 605 V6 has the same engine as a Delorean DMC-12 - and might just get to 88 mph a little more quickly.

@@Markustajahoyrylaiva Yep it's a good point. I've also pondered 'news'. It's always used plurally. There is no such thing as a 'new'. Interesting stuff. But wouldn't BBC News are wrong. We'd say BBC News is wrong. There are so many exceptions in English.

@@gepwxaqdfsidsesg1548 That is what I deeply believe, perhaps I wish Stellantis should financially and technologically merge with Toyota, especially since the latter's cars, e.g. Corolla, possesses ugly and boring looks then it would be great to experiment a Toyota with underpinnings/stylings from Peugeot and technologies from Toyota as well...

Not only that, then expecting Peugeot and FCA to merge with Toyota through benefiting the former from the latter's powertrains and other technologies means this would make Stellantis to smoke the Germans, and not only them, the Chinese. Just look at the alliance between Volvo and Geely, a Chinese car manufacturer, they're putting the likes of Toyota, Stellantis, Hyundai, and as well as NISSAN into despair and this is why it is better to imagine Toyota to take over Peugeot and Fiat together - in contrast Nissan should also break up with Renault and merge with Hyundai (as with the latter is already spicing up the automotive world with European-looking cars).

Anyone can share some insights from ownership of this Peugeot 605?

I had one (model 1996) for three years. Very reliable, very good drive. If you find a good late one with low miles, they could be real bargains.

I got one for 98 it's a driving sofa. If you wana buy one, choose the 2.5TD engine, extremely reliable and great torque, can easily put 400K (km) with no problem. Anyway, buy anything after 1994, models before 94 had some electric issues. After 94 : extremely reliable, between 98 and 99, top notch, they were slightly restyled. If you buy one, you have to drive it, these cars hate to be left a year or more in a garage, this is when you start to have electric / injections issues, otherwise BEST car ever

@@benwilde2188 I would say until the 2000s The 406 was a really good car, but the 407 was just crap. My family drove Peugeots for 30 years and now my uncle is still driving a 406 and my Mom switched to Toyota. My uncle had a 504 diesel, 505 turbodiesel, 605 turbodiesel, 406 hdi, 607 hdi, 406 petrol My mom had a 305, 405 estate, another 405 estate, 406 estate The late 80 to 90s Peugeot were the best in terms of rust protection. Rust killed the 504 and 505. The 406 and maybe the 607 were the last reliable Peugeots. My uncle had a 607 with 550k km. But the 407… its ugly as hell, how could they make such an ugly car after the 605 and 406. I have only good memories of our 406 estate, we sold it in 2015 with 300k km and the engine was in perfect working condition. I was 12 years old when we sold it, I really like this car. A gold Peugeot 406 estate with 2.0l 136hp petrol and automatic transmission.
