1989 Diehard 500 from Talladega Superspeedway | NASCAR Classic Full Race Replay

The race you are about to see appear as originally broadcast and may contain imagery that is offensive and doesn't align with NASCAR's values. NASCAR has since permanently banned the display of the confederate flag at all events.

Its always neat to go back and watch these classics seeing how the sport has changed over the years/decades. No stages like they currently have and no safer barriers on the track walls. And all the different car models that were raced is fascinating too.

By this time the cars had evolved to basically just raindrop bodies; gone is the long snout raked body the bubble glass Monte Carlo run earlier that year represented. That there are no stages doesn’t matter because the cautions still are flying and the timing is largely the same as with stages

First NASCAR race I ever went to. Watching it again, my driver had a hell of a car, just came up one place short.

Terry's only win in a Ford and the last win for that red and white scheme that populated the 80's. Then Junior went to an all red scheme for Geoff Bodine in 1990 and Bill Elliott who replaced Bodine 2 years later.
