They aren't criticizing them. They are doing extremely close analysis of their bowling styles. Remember: Salvino and Weber are the heroes of Durbin's generation. It's like a present day artist criticizing Picasso's work. The analysis is very instructive.

Hard to believe Dick Weber was almost 60 in this video. Ageless and tieless, a real class man and professional.

I love Mike Durbin. I really do. What a nice guy.

Search up the 2009 practice shots with Salvino. Amazingly enough, he kind of went back to his old 1954 style. 75 years old, the guy's amazing.

Dick Weber remains, in the opinion of many, the greatest professional bowler who ever lived. Whenever he made the "stepladder format" final day of a PBA event, ABC (or later, ESPN for some events) would be assured of good ratings.

search up the 1954 match with Salvino. Big back swing, then.

It maybe just me but it almost always seems the people that do things a little bit different like salvino are always some of the better players.

Trip Walton In almost every sport your greater scorers seemed to have rather unorthodox styles. The same can be said about some of the greatest bowlers, too. If it works for them...

Guys, don't bite my head off but, I know Dick was a great bowler but, I always thought that he had terrible footwork. I hardly saw him post a shot and he didn't have hardly any slide. I'm a senior bowler myself with a 210 ave. I drive the other seniors crazy because I still have a good knee bend and I always post my shot.

besides not posting, arm goes out right on release. If you walked into a bowling alley and saw someone bowl like him, falling off each shot, not "going through" the ball - wouldn't be impressed at all.

I thought Weber always looked like he was flirting with fouling on every shot and pulled himself up awkwardly. But it doesn't matter if you have the ability to consistently repeat shots like he did.
