I had one for a bit, a 1988 2.9i Ghia. Felt very classy, smooth and solid compared to the Escorts and Orions that I owned. Much better brakes too. It did have a drink problem though, but the 2.9 8v is a nice torquey engine. I once went on a trip to London in a Scorpio Coswoth 24v MK3, same generation as these, not the blobby final Scorpio. That thing was lovely, full black leather and the engine just loved a good thrashing. I think th Granadas were a bit more modern looking than the Vauxhalls of the period, Carltons and Senators (I owned two Senstors too, they were great cars as well). Think the Omega was better than the last Scorpio series, the rounded one, especially the looks.

I think that the interior of the Mk3 is disappointing, especially the dash. It's just like a big Fiesta. Doesn't feel that special at all.

@@lewis72 I guess so. It wasn't terrible though and much better than Vauxhalls of the same era imho. The overall feel was about 5 times more plush than a Fiesta, the equipment was nicely damped on the whole and felt a lot classier to use than a Fiesta or Escort. It felt a couple of leagues above as a car.

@@timk3939 My dad had an '86 GL Granada. It felt less luxurious than the '83 GL Sierra that he part-exed it for. - The Granada's front seats had plastic/vinyl backs. - The Granada's cloth was quite rough compared to the Sierra's velour. - The early GL Sierras had that funky warning-light cluster in the centre section of the dash. - The Sierra had those massive padded headrests.

UK market GL was equal to continental Europe CL (this car is a 2.0i CL) spec on the German built Scorpio (Granada). Their Scorpio GL was equal to UK Granada Ghia but with hand wound rear windows & their Ghia equal to UK Granada "scorpio". Hence UK built sierra GL was a higher spec car - velour and rev counter etc. - In UK, the CL trim between L & GL was never a thing.

Awesome! I had a miniature of one of these when I was a kid, with some sort of cloth/fabric interior, even.

I prefer them in V6 Cologne guise but they were fantastic cars!
