1987 CR 125 Tribute and Restoration "Dead or Alive"

Revisited my childhood with this project, one of my favorite bikes that I raced back in 1988. Backed up with the song I used to listen to back in the day on the way to the races, Bon Jovi's Dead or Alive. The project bike is actuallly an '88, but I went with the '87 color scheme because my old bike was an '87!

    Crazy I have that same dream about a 1986 KX80. One night I sat straight up in bed after dreaming I was riding it and said HOLY CRAP I'M GOING TO BE 50 SOON! If I want to ever ride again I need to do it NOW. I sold just about every other toy I owned and purchased 4 dirt bikes and started racing hare scrambles. Life is short don't waste it selling your life to the company.

    Heck yeah man!! Hey I'm 48, there is still plenty of good riding at our ages. It keeps you in shape, gives you a reason to exercise. Nothing wrong with that just have fun and ride within your limits. I'm actually building another 87 125 right now, the one in the video was stolen about five years ago when we lived in another state. I'll have some video on it and a review soon!

    Honestly I salvaged a frame, forks, airbox cylinder/power valve and seat base!! Had to find another bottom end because I couldn’t even get those cases split. It was way too much work haha!!

    @Matt Lombardo yeah i believe that..thats the way it was with CR80's too.. I had a 1987 cr 80 in the early 00's that me and my dad fixed back up, and it was as good of a bike as any other brand 7 or 8 years newer.. Honda REALLY had the competition beat on quality in the late 80's.. We later put that engine in newer frames '87 engine in a '93 frame and then later a '98 frame, 11 yrs newer frame....and I know 1990-1999 CR 125's all have the same engines.. Can any other brand say that?

  • @markswartmx56

    @markswartmx56

    7 жыл бұрын

    Matt Wiggins you will probably have to scrounge radiators on eBay, and there is a vendor on therr that sells chain blocks but they arent cheap. Dennis Kirk carries some of the Maier plastics. Most other parts available. I still have the 88 blood red tank if you are interested, it is mostly restored and there are places that refinish them to like new. Honda still makes the fork boots. Many of the motor parts interchange from 87-89. Hope this helps if you have other questions I'm happy to help.
