1987 Buick GN VERSUS 1989 Pontiac TA pace car. Both an odd in the late 80's because, they are fast!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video we will compare the 87 Grand National to the 89 Turbo TA pace car. We will discuss specification, why they are the same, but different, as well as do walk arounds and test drives.

The Trans Am was underrated in Horsepower.

Back in the early 2000's my father bought this 1989 pontiac pace car and absolutely loved it, we would always go to car shows together and it would be the only one there. He ended up selling it and buying a 1987 buick grand national that had a built engine. I got to experience both of these cars as a kid and i will never forget them.

The trans am had better heads also. I owned both of these cars a 86 grand national and the 89tta #1218 and they were lots of fun

If you did a race between both the GN and TRANS AM I will guarantee you the views will be so high in numbers. That's what people want to see expecially since there both stock.

Lovely cars! The GN should be making 15lbs of boost. The GN’s always shifted harder than the TTA’s. They softened up the trans in the TTA and called it a garage feature or something like that. It would give you less of a clunk when placed in gear when cold. On a GN when cold, sometimes the tires will actually spin when placed in reverse.

I own #466 TTA and I have of bone stock cars being put on the dyno and having 300 HP. I've had my car pull a 4.4 0-60 and run low 12's in the 1/4 mile.

I own #463 for over 30 years. Yes, it does a 4.4 0-60 when tuned correctly ! People have no idea. I was never ever beat throughout the 90s

THE T/A USED THE 3800 V6..GN WAS THE 3.8 V6. I HAD THE PRIVILEDGE OF DRIVING BOTH WHEN THEY WERE NEW. NOTHING PURE STOCK WOULD BEAT THE T/A!

No they were both the 3.8L LC2 engine. Because of the narrower engine bay due to the strut towers they did use the narrower FWD cylinder heads in the TTA which gave the necessary clearance & ended up flowing slightly better.

@@GrandCamino6 This is 100% correct. They are both LC2, TTA had narrower heads.

Let’s give credit to Buick and Pontiac, as opposed to GM as a whole. If they had their way neither of these 2 cars would have existed and the best the 80’s would have had going for it would have been the boring ol Chevy L98.

Wow that Grand National chirped on second so it actually looked and sounded better than the TA but only you know the truth as you were driving them, and congrats on having both of the cars of my dream, well the Grand National i'm getting one already modified with at least 700hp that's all i need and the TA those are so hard to find.
