@@ElYahvecinLang I hope the Broncos have something with the shade of blue used in these clips in the pipeline considering the one-helmet rule was rescinded. Their current Color Rush unis have their current color scheme.

No fluke teams. These were The Best Of The Best, and deserved to be there. Giants hit a stride and they could do no wrong. I remember the 49er game at Giants Stadium. Total domination by New York, punctuated by Jim Burt knocking Montana unconscious. They were, in that way, like the 1985 Bears: they were on a roll late in the year and would not be stopped.

Jets might’ve been the 2nd best team out there after the Giants. If they went to Denver I don’t doubt they beat Denver and then get blown out by the Giants in the SB

The fact that a 12-4 Washington team was a WILD CARD enhances your point

@@TL2354, yeah, RYAN was better than ELWAY.. Riiiiiiiighhhht.. At CLEVELAND, the JETS LOST their two o-times game. The BRONCS WON THEIRS in a single O.T., and put on a 98 yard drive at the end of regulation..by you know who..to tie and later win it. Now, in the SBOWL, DEN. TE ORSON MOBLEY's diving catch and subsequent run for a long gainer toward the end of the first half was nullified by an incorrect call by the official. CBS on the telecast, due to '80's technological limitations, had to supply a replay to the official back then. They did 8 mins. and several plays later, showing the viewers that MOBLEY caught the ball and ran into the GIANTS redzone with it, setting DENVER up for a possible TD. Instead, on the first play after DENVER'S screwjob, ELWAY deep in his OWN TERRITORY, was sacked for a safety, making the score later at the end of the half, 10-9 DENVER instead of 17-7 BRONCS leading. That one play totally changed that game. PARCELLS in a shifting formation from punt to "go for it" formation went on 4th down in the third quarter on a qback sneak AT MIDFIELD by backup qb JEFF RUTLEDGE. THEY MADE IT, SCORED A TD, took the lead 16-10, and never looked back. Trailing 17-7 DO THEY GO FOR IT AT MIDFIELD? You tell me. The CEO OF CBS IN 1986= LAWRENCE TISCH.. related to an eventual, ONLY 5 YRS. LATER, newer NY GIANTS co-owner BOB TISCH.. with the MARAS who completely owned the GIANTS IN 1986. LAWRENCE AND BOB TISCH were brothers. You tell me. Why did it take 8 mins. to have a replay popup on the telecast, which back then was the ONLY WAY for the ref to see a replay, why? Neither SUMMERALL ON P-BY-P, an ex-GIANT, OR.. FORMER OAKLAND RAIDER HEAD COACH AND THEN CBS ANALYST, MADDEN ever said one word about CBS being 8 MINS. late with the replay. IT WAS the NY GIANTS first crown since 1956.🤔..HMMMM... Would the NYGs have still scored 30 pts in the second half? Maybe.. Who knows?..but the alternative of a different game based on an actual legit play nullified by a crappy call was completely snuffed out due to what likely is... TOTAL B.S. You tell me..

I remember in 1986 how Seattle got hot down the stretch and won 5 straight to end the season at 10-6, The Seahawks were a team nobody wanted to play had they got in, They also handed the Giants one of their two losses that season.

And that was only when there were 2 wildcard spots available at the time in both conferences. The Seahawks finished strong but it wasn't enough at the time to earn a playoff spot. Much like the Denver Broncos the season before who finished 11-5 but MISSED the playoffs due to a tiebreaker.

If Gastineau doesn't get called for the hit on Kosar, we have a Jets / Giants Super Bowl. The Jet defense was back in stride at this point similar to when they were 10-1 earlier in the season and scraped the Broncos on Monday Night.

    5 times the Browns were a game away from a Super Bowl in 1968, 1969, 1986, 1987, 1989, lost all 5. The Giants also were a game away 5 times in 1986, 1990, 2000, 2007, 2011, won them all.

The Giants practically won the Super Bowl this season when they CRUSHED the Niners in the Divisional Round. Beating the Redskins & then the Broncos was pretty much the cherry on top. THIS was perhaps THE greatest Giants team of all time. 14-2 in the regular season and then just TORE through their 3 opponents in the playoffs & Super Bowl with relative ease( yeah, they trailed in the 1st half of the Super Bowl but really woke up in the 2nd half & never looked back after that ).🙂
