Initial broadcast: December 22, 1986
Although Amanda Kingsley (Loretta Young) is now extremely wealthy, she remembers her hardscrabble upbringing and tries to help the less fortunate around her. Conversely, her business-minded son, Andrew (Arthur Hill), has never wanted for anything, and has become hardhearted. Upon receiving bad medical news, Amanda engages down-at-heel private investigator Morris Huffner (Ron Leibman) to track down Andrew's three estranged children before Christmas Eve for one final family holiday.
Artur Hill a Canadian actor best known for appearances in British and American theatre, films, and television. Hill was born in Melfort, Saskatchewan, and served as a mechanic in the Royal Canadian Air Force before attending the University of British Columbia, where he studied law, but was lured to the stage.
Hill made his Broadway debut as Cornelius Hackl in the 1957 revival of Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker. In 1963 he won the Tony Award for Best Dramatic Actor for his portrayal of George in the original Broadway production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (with Uta Hagen). Arguably, Hill's most famous acting role was that of lawyer Owen Marshall, the lead role in the 1971-74 TV series Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law. He appeared on many other series, including The Reporter, and played Grandpa Lansford Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie (1976).
Hill died in a Pacific Palisades, California, nursing home, aged 84, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. His ashes were scattered into the Pacific Ocean.
Ron Leibman was born in New York City in 1937 and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University. He has been married to actress Jessica Walter since 1983 and was previously married to actress Linda Lavin
Leibman is most known for providing the voice of Ron Cadillac in Archer and for playing Dr. Leonard Green, Rachel's rich, short-tempered father, on the sitcom Friends.
Trevor Howard was an English film actor born in Cliftonville, Kent, England. After varied stage work, he achieved star status with his role in the film Brief Encounter (1945), followed by The Third Man (1949). This led to many popular appearances on film and TV.
While filming White Mischief (1988) on location in Kenya during 1987, Howard was seriously ill and suffering from alcoholism. The Dawning (1988) was his final film. He died on 7 January 1988 from hepatic failure and cirrhosis of the liver in Arkley, Barnet, aged 74.
Also in the cast, Patrick Cassidy, Charles Frank, Season Hubley and
Kate Reid.

Don't know why this movie isn't on TV every year, but I believe this should be included in all the Christmas TV programs forever!! Not only is a beautiful, well done movie, it shows kindness and love!! A great message to share for all!!

We don't get any Christmas movies on ION on weekends anymore! I miss them! Can't buy most of them either!! I love this movie!!! Bought it on VCR YEARS ago when when VCR Tapes were the craze! I watch it every year! Thank you for airing it on YT!!!!

We always watched Loretta Young she is a lovely lady.No one on tv is quite like her.
I watched this movie on 12/22/1986 and tonight 12/25/2020. Loretta Young has been a favorite actress of mine since I was a little girl.
Loretta Young my mother's favorite star, one incredibly beautiful woman full of grace.
What a Wonderful Christmas Treat, she was A Star of tf golden Age, and she was such an Elegant Lady ,.
My home was used in this movie ,it was the grand daughters home in the hills. Wonderful movie

I want to thank Miss Young’s family for sharing this last gift from her. She was such a lovely sophisticated lady with oodles of talent and I thank her for sharing herself with her fans. As a 6 year old little girl I remember clear as day sitting with my mother in 1960 watching “The Loretta Young Show.” To me she was absolutely beautiful! As I grew up I enjoyed watching many old black and white movies on TV starring her. She was one of my favorite actresses.

I first watched this film in 1986 when it first appeared. I remember being so thankful to see the great Loretta Young in front of the camera once again. A look, a nod, a gesture, and those eyes. What an actress. Words not needed Thankful to see it's being made available by the Loretta Young estate.

I remember as a young girl Watching her on TV sweeping down those beautiful spiral stairs with such grace. Such a beautiful woman . I pray that this year here in the United States and around the world will be one of peace, health, Love, and compassion for one another. Indiana, USA

My daughter was born the evening this movie first aired on tv 33 years ago. Besides being a wonderful movie it brings back such a special memory. When I watch it I’m transported back to that night. I’m so grateful to have found it.

One of the very best and it's ghe first time I saw it Angel in my pocket is another Loretta Young classic. She is beautiful inside as out.
Loretta Young was so beautiful and awesome to watch. Love this.
Even in her mid seventies Loretta Young was a beautiful woman, I have always enjoyed the integrity of her movies and TV shows with good morals and heavenly, blissful themes. She was a good woman and a bright light no matter all the junk she went through in her life.

I sense something vey painful happened to you and that you are really hurting. I’m sorry for your pain, Tess. There is something that you don’t know about Miss Young. The sin you say she committed and all the other sins she committed in her life were possibly forgiven. So when her time comes to stand before God she will be as pure as snow without one sin to pay for. Another thing even more astounding is that little white lie you told the other day equals the sin you charged Miss Young with. All sin, no matter how innocent or how vile they seem to man, are equal in God’s eyes. Have you been set free from your sins, Tess? Have you accepted God’s free gift of Salvation? In case you haven’t, the Gospel of the Grace of God can be found in l Corinthians 15:1-4. Believe in Jesus Christ’s work on the Cross, His death, burial and resurrection and you will receive Christ’s righteousness. @@gracewright8038 One sin? 1) Having an affair with a married man.2) Having a child out of wedlock. 3) Leaving that child in an orphanage for 19 months. 4) Paying nuns to lie for you. 5) Lying to the world that you "adopted" your own child. 6) Lying to your child about her parentage. 7) Having your child's ears surgically altered to hide the remblance to her father. 8)Not telling Mr.Gable that he had a daughter. 9) Purporting to be a perfect, virginal pious woman. I have respect for most other religions and it would not occur to me to try to foist my religion on someone else.That was very rude of you.
