I'm a lifelong 49er fan and thought Joe Montana was the best, but I have to say as far as arm strength and quick release nobody beat Dan Marino. It really is a shame that after 1984 in just his second season he never made it back to the Super Bowl because he really was one of the best QBs ever.

Looking back on this game when I was 16 watching it,it became apparent that the 85 season for the Steelers was going to be a long one and Malone not the quarterback of the future for Steelers

Betters and Baumhower , Bokamper declined badly and Duhe was injured in 85. Lyle Blackwood lost two steps. This core hit its peak I. 1981/82 - slid a bit in 83 and by 84 they were trending towards bottom half of league defence. The whole unit went to pot in 86 when they allowed > 35 points in each of the first 4 games and over 50 against SD. Bad draft picks like Jackie shipp and mike Charles....and trading for Hugh green after his injuries mounted....

@@davidrose8842 the first 4 games of 86 the Miami D surrendered an average of >40 points per game. Arnspargers’s replacement seating in 86 was chuck studley....he was responsible for the truly terrible defences of the Late 80s. Replaced by Tom olivodatti in early 90s who was only marginally better.

The defense back up the whole time on the opening drive was not aggressive at all the coaches were terrible defensive play calling.
