Set in a dystopian world of surveillance and control, this film adaptation of a classic novel from 1956 immerses viewers in a thought-provoking exploration of a future dominated by a totalitarian regime. The narrative follows a protagonist navigating a society where personal freedom is suppressed, and dissent is met with severe consequences. As the individual grapples with the manipulation of truth and the erosion of individuality, the film becomes a chilling reflection on the fragility of humanity under oppressive rule. Wow, just wow, this is so 2024, i live in Nigeria, and I can promise you that if I show this movie to the whole of Nigeria, 99.9% of them won't understand what this movie is about, it's a stupid world people, that's how the elites have been able to control the mind of so many people, go to a mosscape fighting for the soul survival of humanity, and I will fight because of my Son.

Goodluck to you, I know it feels isolating seeing the world for what it really is. But we're not alone. Part of the programming is to make us believe we're isolated and that everyone else is "asleep" so we don't try to reach out for help or to deter us from speaking out because we'll be the "unpopular opinion"..but don't fall for it. More people are catching on than are asleep, you just have to have the courage to show people you're not brainwashed before they'll feel comfortable to be open about it too. I can't tell you how many times I openly talk about this stuff and slowly more people gravitate and open up more, because people know and agree with it, They just fall for the programming that no one else thinks like them, so they're afraid to talk.. Much love from America.

@@Coryiodine I try my best here to explain as best I could, some people do agree and intend to open up more, but other's just want to make it seems as if I feel like I know too much, you see Nigeria is not like America, over there you tend to have a lot more people who really wants to know the truth, over there you're more open minded, down here it's like everyone are the same, everyone listen to same type of music over and over again, meaningless entertainment with no substance, it's sad to see, people will openly call out for someone to be arrested just because someone speak their mind and you don't agree, but still have hope, because I know Nigeria's never turn blind eye to the truth, you just have to find a way to show them the truth, so yes I agree with you, they're a lot more people out there who just want to know the truth, at least the other side of the argument. Thank you.

Thanks DDF for this film, it's been on my to-Watch list for ages. Before I watch I read a few comments and I have watched many channels referring to the film 1984 so I think I can leave the following towards those comments which are relevant. 1984 HAS Been re-written.! Take your faces away from the minefield of conspiracy theories, hypnotic control dancers & folk wondering if they're a girl or boy on TikTok to watch educational stuff on the Internet / KZread and find 1984 in its modern form available on KZread movies. It's in colour, it stars John Hurt (without an alien bursting out of his chest) and is basically a retelling of this brilliant B/W Movie. The fact that this comment even needs to exist re-re-reiterates just how the publics IRL ignorance of the human mindset is. It's taking place in the comments about a film pointing out the blind ignorance of the state of the mindset required to control and manipulate people. Honestly, find something within the irony to laugh at & delete TikTok Otherwise it's a real life dystopian paradox as pointed out in the movie 1984.! No-wonder I'm a boomer.

This was actually the second production of 1984 that Donald Pleasance appeared in, here in this movie as Parsons. He was in the 1954 BBC production of 1984, adapted by Nigel Kneale (Quatermass), that starred Peter Cushing as Winston Smith and Andre Morell as O'Brien. In that one, Pleasance was Syme.

I read 1984 (the book) decades ago. A few days ago, I bought the Audible recording and have been listening to it. How odd that I came across this movie posting. The book was written in 1949, and in my opinion has a fair amount of prescience. As with most movies, there is quite a lot of nuance missed as compared with the book - or the direct reading of the book by outlets such as Audible.

The issue isn’t that people are oppressed but that people are becoming knowledge resistance; all thanks to the internet that enables the establishment of beliefs in things that aren’t true (≠knowledge). From this people feel “attacked” and “oppressed” by knowledge (or what is most likely correct/knowledge) since they take its authority personally. But a turn away from accumulative knowledge as a national or universal standard will only lead to stagnation and misery (especially in the long term). The oppression of a mislead cognition before knowledge weighs heavy in contrast to the uninformed.

Damn there is so much in this movie that relates to our modern world. The section where the women talk about sexual relations between men and women in 100 years was spot on to the feminist / Communism at work. And the ending where they realize that once you care about only yourself, you're not the same and more susceptible to being programmed is massive insight as to why narcissist culture is being pushed on us. Women are taught to support themselves, men are taught to "go their own way" and everyone is being trained to be full blown narcissists. It's all so they can be controlled easier being all alone.
