Respect to the Hawkins family. Their black owned business is still at the same old building across the street from the Nickerson Gardens projects. 40 or 50 plus yrs. Never ran, never hid, never sold business. Stayed 10 toes down and kept pressing on even tho their own people tried to destroy them, literally and figuratively.

What I liked MOST about this video, it's proof that regardless of income level our black parents Always told us to do what's Right. They taught us the Right way then we choose to do the wrong things, some of us learn and grow some stay the SAME or worse.

It's easy for parents to say I've tried my hardest knowing damn well they haven't tried at all, people have kids left and right and just stick them in the room hoping they raise them selfs

Facts like a mf 💯 I got 2 brothers 2 sisters and I'm the only one that was in and out of trouble as a youth.. Because of the choices I made when I stepped outside. Not because of what I learned at home.. That stuff mama said started making sense to me after I found out the hard way! Glad I can say I did learn my lesson tho!

It’s funny to me, people who’s never been in the streets, never killed anyone or been close to getting killed, always talking about how people in the streets should conduct themselves. Never felt the heat.... so they don’t know how they would react, themselves. Acting surprised that people be snitching.... don’t y’all know there’s no honor in the streets? Anything built wrong will fall. Just keep watching from the sidelines 🤫

He had to take the stand, he was trying to prove self defense. It didn't help that he had a sawed off shotgun and a witness seen him shoot it. If you listen to the whole thing the dude wound up getting charged for shooting one of the bounty hunters. This could've very well been an extortion gone wrong with the two parties. After all, the family owned a mortuary, so they had money and you can't tell me the funeral business wasn't thriving back then. Why is a large hood like that beefing with a family anyway?

@the iron way, YOU don't know. YOU don't know she could've known. YOU can't say you know exactly how the situation was and the way it must be is the mum must've been able to know and just wasn't paying attention. Assuming that is prejudice. Literally judging before actually knowing. And if it's coz they're poor black people so it can't be anything but a bad mum not raising her kid right, that's bigoted prejudice. The only point here is if YOU don't know the specific matter of fact but decide what MUST be true, your opinion is ONLY PREJUDICE. X

@the iron way people dont always tell your mom shit, even if they know. Honestly, the more good hearted your parent is, the LESS people will want to break their heart. Then there are some who may think you already know. Then there are some who won't tell just to laugh behind your back. Then there are some who figure you should know SOMETHING but won't say shitt till they're in an argument and start to aire out your business. Its 2021 and my younger cousin is about 25. My aunt who raised me in her 50s all over facebook. I'm 36. She comes to me to tell me something she heard about my cousin, shit was 2yrs old. She JUST found out. A couple of times we've been just around each other talking, and some shit comes out abkutnwheb i was a teen, my mom had ZERO idea of. It's just reality Everyone wants to blame parents. But the reality is that parents are t psychic nor in touch with the streets like that. Hell, most parents dont have time to be in touch because they're working so hard to be a parent.

The gang life was/is such a waste. Pity most these cats don't realise until it's too late. All brainwashed by gangster rap bullshit and swearing allegiance to Red/Blue and Blood/Crip. Living your life for the colour of your hood. I see a lot of old gang members regret there gang bangin when they eventually get some sense and to be fair many try and give something back to the hood and help kids to stay away from that life. It is a mugs game with very few if any escaping without serious damage being done.

@@nameredacted1176 - Whoa, I don’t argue with women so take it easy. You’ll just have to excuse me for telling the truth about a Roman inspired religion forced onto my ancestors during slavery. Read Ephesians 6:5 and learn something. You’ll also have to excuse me for not accepting homoerotic ceremonies like simulating drinking the blood of another man and eating his flesh. I’m quite happy and satisfied in life without that, but you do you. And just in case you think it’s nonsense look up the council of Nicea 325 AD for historical reference.
