What were Evan Green & Garry Wilkinson doing when these races were running? They certainly weren't watching the pictures we were seeing because they missed so much. Position changes, incidents....totally oblivious.

When television motor racing commentators do their commentary, unlike track announcers they are often doing it from looking at their monitors only. And besides that, at a track like Adelaide International Raceway, the bottom end of the straight was about 900 metres away from the commentary box by the start/finish line. Any other information they get is from occasionally looking out the window of the commentary box or when one of their spotters hands them a note to say something they might have missed.

@@Holden308 Yeah mate, I've seen how they work at the track, as well as the trackside commentators. We don't get to see anything they don't have access to. So, if I can see it from just watching what was telecast, I repeat my question re Evan & Wilko. I'll add further by saying Evan was past his use by date & shown the door by Seven at the end of the year. Not a day too soon.

SO incredibly sad this place has been left to ROT......as there is NOWHERE here in SA to off road race legally.....

And the drag racing fraternity ... which has now left for The Bend ... basically closed off ever using the speedway bowl as a speedway again by putting a concrete retaining wall down the inside of the main straight just for the drags. Sadly it also had the effect of closing off the pit lane exit which has also pretty much killed off circuit racing. The drags fucked the place, then left for somewhere better. AIR is now basically a drift circuit. Its no longer even used for police driver training or car compliance testing with all activity moved to Mallala and/or The Bend.

For all intents and purposes, what was once the hub of motor racing activity in SA with AIR and Speedway Park next door ... is basically being left to rot. Give it 10 years and both will be gone and will be housing developments with maybe some name to at least link to its motor racing past.
