ナムコの人気キャラクター「パックマン」を主人公とした、横スクロールアクションゲームの傑作。 当時、その美しいグラフィックは、テレビアニメではないかと思った程である。 操作は3つのボタンで行い、左右の移動に2つのボタンを使用し、ボタンを押す回数で移動スピードを調節する。 そして、もう1つのボタンをジャンプに使用する。 よく練られたステージ構成と、 多彩なフィーチャーと、絶妙な操作感覚とゲームバランスなど、どれをとっても名作と呼ぶにふさわしい作品である。

In the cartoon world of Pac-Land, a fairy is lost and needs Pac-Man to help her get back to her home in Fairyland. Pac-Man's efforts are hampered by his ever-present enemies in the form of five deadly ghosts - Pinky, Inky, Blinky, Clyde and Sue - who constantly pursue Pac-Man as he travels through the colourful world of Pac-Land. When Pac-Man has helped the lost fairy get back to her home in Fairyland on the final stage of each trip, he is given a pair of magic shoes to help get back to his own home in Pac-Land.
In this, the 8th game in the seminal series, Namco opted to steer the series away from the maze-based antics of Pac-Man's previous adventures and instead created a colourful, sideways-scrolling platform game. This change of direction necessitated the addition of arms, legs and a face to the previously basic Pac-Man character, although much of the design work had already been completed for the 'Hanna-Barbera' cartoon series upon which the game is based.
Directional buttons make Pac-Man walk right or left, and it's possible to make him run by pressing down on a directional button repeatedly. Pac-Man must avoid the ghosts and other deadly objects that populate Pac-Land, either by jumping over or dodging them; unless, of course, he has picked up one of the mandatory Pac-Man 'Power Pills' that litter the levels which, as in Pac-Man's previous outings, make him temporarily invincible and turn the ghosts blue and vulnerable to being eaten. Each stage must also be completed within a set time limit, otherwise Pac-Man will be constantly pursued by a ghost. On some stages, Pac-Man must use a springboard to jump over large ponds. Every time Pac-Man makes it to the end of a stage, a bonus will be awarded based on how much time is left. On each stage, there are cherries and other items which Pac-Man can collect to score points.
Upon reaching the end of the final stage, Pac-Man will be given a pair of magic shoes that will help him on his way home. When he has reached home, he will meet with Ms. Pac-Man, Baby Pac-Man, Chomp-Chomp the Pac-dog, and Sour Puss the Pac-cat. The game then begins again.

    Pac-Land was beyond impressive for 1984. Instead of scrolling backgrounds the trees in front of you were moving. Very impressive animation and effects that looks more like what 16-bit era side scrollers had years later. I remember watching the cartoon on Saturday mornings and seeing this game later. I was amazed a video game could look like a cartoon. This was back when Donkey Kong, Mappy, Popeye, Congo Bongo, Zaxxon, etc were visually impressive. This game was revolutionary. Super Mario Brothers gets most the credit for the side scrolling revolution after dominating consoles. Pac-Land is a forgotten gem.

    中1の頃このパックランドにでかなり金を使ったが池の面までしかいかなかった。激ウマですね! 当時はファミコン版のクオリティーには納得いかず、随分とゲーセンで金をLOSTした。この動画見れて超満足!

    今見ても、ものすごくアメリカンなセンスのゲーム。 私は「ゼビウス」の実機がアーケードで動いてる頃からゲーセン行ってましたが、パックランドのBGMはゲーセンの中でもひときわ明るく響いていました😊

    これやドルアーガは理不尽な難しさのせいか良くも悪くもレトロゲーと扱われる事が多いですね。マリオ64や時オカの様な進化が出来たら良かったかもしれない?

    中学生の頃かなりハマってたゲーム😆 この頃は色々なネーミングを付けて遊んでて tiip8のジャンプ台が無い池の手前でモンスターに載っかり進行方向ボタンを押し続けるとブルブル震えるのをゲルググと読んでいたんだなあ〜笑笑

    パックランド人気があり8人ぐらいで、時間や面数制限でやった気がする、1人で16面以上行った気がするよ、7650点が懐かしいですね

    間違いなく横スクロールアクションゲームの礎となった歴史的転換点的なゲーム。任天堂の宮内さんは影響を頑なに否定しているけど、このゲームが誕生してなかったら、スーパーマリオブラザーズもおそらくこの世には存在していない。

    Trip5のRound20、敵のいない簡単な帰り道かと思いきや、 コースが長くてタイムアウト(スーが突っ込んでくる)確定という、なかなか恐ろしい。

    最初ゲームセンターの人がボタンの配置、ハイパーオリンピックのように真ん中がジャンプで左が左側、右が右側で設定していてしばらくその設定でプレイしていました。

    The PS1 version is an exact duplicate, a fine port. Edit: The Turbographx/PC Engine port is quite fine as well, a very worthy port, unlike the Famicom port, which was released too early in the system's lifespan, before technology allowed NES games to look and sound better later on.

    Another Namco favorite of mine, precursor for a side scroller, before SMB came along. This game gets tough, as all old Namco games from that era did. The game is endless, though if you play the TG-16 game, there is an ending. I play this one via Namco Museum 4 PS1, Japanese version. Out of all the games on there, only this one, and Assault/Assault Plus works (I paid $14.99, so that was to be expected when the average price is $40+ for that particular compilation only, 1 and 3 are cheap, 2, 5 and Encore also demand a high price).

    I have ordered another copy off of Ebay, I pray that all 5 games work on this collection after having great luck with the Japanese Volume 5, and everything working mostly just fine, outside of Metro Cross's music.

    This is such a surreal game. This is like turning the game Battleship into a whole live action movie, or Disney's current trend with Star Wars where they decide some minor character in the background of one shot for half a second needs an extended treatment, or they decide to use a character but then decide to change him completely without explanation (*cough cough* Obi Wan *cough cough*. Somebody looked at Pac-Man and was like, "What if Pac-Man had a family and needed to race to get home to them? Abandon all the mechanics from the original game but keep the character's face and body! GOLD, Jerry, GOLD!"

    中学生当時、近所の駄菓子屋でもんじ焼き(もんじゃではない)を食べながら遊んでいました。 もんじの鉄板の隣にあったからという理由だけで相当おこづかいをつぎ込みましたね・・・ 今見ても、何が楽しいのか全く分かりません。でもクソゲーでは決してありません。 人を引き込ませる何かがあるゲームだと思います。

    35年目にして10点ポーズが見られるかと思いましたが残念! 友人が10点を出したときに限ってその場におらず、ついに見る事かなわなかったポーズでした 既にコメントされていますが、ボタン3つという操作系に「なにこれ…」って思ったものです

    ポップな見た目とアクション性は楽しいが、いかんせん操作系が特異で難しい。 一方ファミコン版は見た目こそショボくはなったが、操作系が十字キーで左右が使えたのでその点はやりやすくはなった。が、その難しさはアーケード譲りであり、攻略本を見たところで正直スーパーマリオより難しいと思う。 とはいえ、アーケード版の出来は良く、キャラも愛されていたので、80年代後半あたりにパックランド2でもパックワールドでもいいから、続編を作っておいてくれたらな、とは思う。 とにもかくにも、80年代のナムコの黄金期の一角を担うタイトルであることは間違いない。

    trip7辺りにモンスターの飛行機に乗っていかないとクリア出来無い所があって、これみよがしにパワーエサがあって取ったらダメなんだがそこが鬼畜だと思った。

    This game is great, without it, Miyamoto might not have made the Super Mario series as this game inspired him to do the first SMB game a year after.

This was cutting edge when it came out, nothing looked or sounded like it at the time (Legend of Kage came a year after, and was Taito's first game where the Zuntata soundtrack enhanced the game, and set the standard for how awesome Zuntata music could sound). This game laughs at Microsoft Paint.

    @@SoshiTheYoshi Yet almost 40 years later, this games look continues to impress me for the time it came out. I was all of 9 when this released, and my jaw dropped when I saw it.

    確か、飛行機の上に乗って、ハイパーブーツでボタン連打で、その技で10面まで最低スコアでクリアした気がするよ、そんな事してあきて30年以上やっていないよ

    直撃世代でしたが、何かナムコのゲームはできばえは素晴らしいとは思いつつも、何か私には取っつき難い物でした。良くも悪くもOne&onlyな作品が多く、マリオ・ドラクエ・スト2みたいなディファクトスタンダード作品を産み出せなかった(よく言えば、俗な商品化以上の高みに達してた)それが80年代後半以降、鉄拳・アイマスのヒット以外はなんか技術力の割にはパッとしないメーカーに成ってしまった感じがします。結局バンナムだし。 そんな私は、弟がゼビウス・リブルラブル・ドルアーガ・イシター等を延々とプレイしてるのを2P側でアイスクリームを食いながら眺めていました。
