1983 Monte Carlo Lowrider Paintjob is FINISHED!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The Monte Carlo Lowrider is FINISHED (for this summer, anyway). I have been working on this G body's paintjob for a year now and its finally ready to sparkle in the sunshine with that heavy metal flake and sweet sweet candy patterns! Hope you guys enjoy this episode, certainly the longest I've made but definitely a big deal for me.

I know owners take pride of the patterns on their ride. To me, it's a testament to the skill and artistic work from the painter.

I cannot begin to think how much a paint job like this would cost a customer as there must be at least 5 Grand in paint & tape I’m slowly working my way through your back catalog of videos & each one is brilliant Your workmanship is amazing & your artistic imagination knows no bounds I’ve L&S & as yet I’ve not been disappointed

Thanks so much John! glad youre enjoying my stuff! Yes my paintjob was probably around the 5 grand mark for cost. If I billed out hours Im guessing itd be in the neighborhood of 25-30 grand.
Yoo even without the blue being clear that color is sick. I gotta hurry up and fix my imperfections on the trucks body then wait in line for a touch up paint.
super clean brother
Man, I really dig the paint job you did! It gives me big 90's mini truck vibes. But I like how you morphed so many styles to make it your own. I'm a chopper and hot rod guy, but it pains me to see a lack of originality in the scenes. Especially the chopper scene is so saturated with hyper historically period correct builds. Which I respect and can appreciate. Unfortunately it's become a style in it's own. I find it ironic cause they go for the 60's or 70's era primarily, which both of those eras were entirely about self expression. Nowadays a lot of the competitions look like they were often from the same builder. It just seems like folks are much less willing to go out on limb and do something wild. I'm a working class guy. I can't afford to go out and buy an old $20k HD engine. I take pride in the DIY ethic of builds. It may not be top tier show quality. At least I'm not just assembling old parts lol

Wow what an awesome message! Thanks for commenting man. Yeah, as this car is my rolling billboard, I wanted to go all out on it and try out as many different styles as I could. Even still, so far Ive heard "wheres the leaf?" , "wheres the pinstriping?" , "wheres the water droplets?" etc,etc. Meh. Ive put my heart and soul into this paint job and its rocking like 7 different HOK candies so Im loving it. so far this year have picked up Best In Show at a huge show on Vancouver island, 3rd best in show at a local smaller show, and Best Paint at Stay Gold car show. It has been an amazing summer and I have met so many cool people and experienced so many cool things. Thanks for watching!
Hello sir thank you very much for sharing and teaching basically , how to lay Down patterns , process and steps 💙💙💙of low rider art on the previous video , very much appreciated , If a low rider art culture evolved in NE India by me , it will be because of your videos , coz there’s not much channels out there teaching this art ❤❤❤❤❤❤ Till then fingers crossed😅😅😅wish me luck

Beautiful Monte I have a 1980 Monte Carlo All White with 80 Spokes Wire Wheels. Black Tinted Windows and The Bass System. That's about it, Don't need to do any more but keep it Clean Inside and Outside. Don't drive in The Rain or Snow. In lockdown over the Winter and drive only when dry out. Oh yeah have Small White Walls and keep them Bright White. Black Tires have the Black Wet Shiney look. Again you have a Beautiful Monte. Thank you.

I pulled those 14"s out of a junkyard covered in mud for $100! (check my first Monte Carlo video, its a good one), I've been tempted by some 13"s lately but these dirt cheap 14"s have a special place in my heart hahaha Thanks for watching EJ. Also "real lowrider" comment made me laugh. search up some Lowriding history. 14"s were the origin of lowriders for like a decade before 13" wires came out.

@@SlickWorks Hell yeah, watching it now actually. Question for you though, do you think art forms like this as well as hand-lettering/sign painting are a dying technique? Because I see, while small, a resurgence in both. I have about 10 years worth of experience with graffiti and wanna tackle some different mediums
@SlickWorks
Жыл бұрын
@@Blarbling I would say it was a dying art form as all the old timers who kill at it are dieing off, but theres a select few of us young guns who want to keep that classic art alive and well. So power to you for wanting to get into it brother.
I have no idea how i found this channel, but a fellow BC Brother. Hell yeah! You might want to look at doing a collab with Make it Kustom, he does some amazing stuff. Ever try doing some patina painting? like doing door decals etc that look destressed? i think that would be a really neat video even if its just on one of the old rigs in the back as a test piece.

Great paint job bro ,🔥. I have a question. Can i wet sand 2:1 metallic grey in case i get orange peel . Im using it for base coat and i wanna do a bit of candy stripe pattern nothing to crazy. How much time do i have for me to come back and candy coat some stripes on before clear coat ?
@SlickWorks

Thanks for watching! you cant wet sand any metallic single stage base coat. You would want to clear it then sand it flat before adding any patterns/candy.

@@udrgrndpyro5107 yes 1 to 1 is pretty standard for base coat. You should spray it 2 wet coats then a mist coat. Clear that, sand the clear flat and start playing with tape
