The Excalibur was an American icon, starting a new market segment in 1964. Mike's Dad loved these striking cars and now Mike is continuing his passion at the 2023 NSRA Nationals, York, PA Camelot Classic Cars: www.excaliburclassics.com Alice's interview: www.hagerty.com/media/great-r...

Gee, Glen, doesn't your 10% management fee from the band and repping Don's paintings bring in enough to buy an Ex??? Maybe you will have to force Little Glen to get a job!!! Thanks for dropping by, Numero Uno!!! Check out Glen's GREAT channel, Model Cars With Glen: www.youtube.com/@modelcarswithglen./videos

Brook's creation started a new automotive segment which came to be known as the neo classic. It still turns heads today, even at a street rod/hot rod show!!!!

Brookfield's finest! (Brookfield was in the western part of Milwaukee.). You're absolutely right about them being hand-made; I've been in a lot of automotive plants, but none like that one.

@@carshowreporter Nope. The only customer I remember in that part of the world was Weil-Maclean Steel Foundry. One Friday afternoon in 2001, I left work with the purchasing agent's guarantee that he was going to issue a purchase order over the weekend, and the fax would be waiting for me Monday morning. Well. There was a order cancellation waiting for me for an order I never received. Turns out that late Friday a directive went out from headquarters to cancel all capital equipment orders. The recession following 9/11 had begun.

@@carshowreporter I think they were probably at the top of the Replicar heap... There was also a 1929 Stutz boat tail roadster built in the late 70s that you wouldn't be able to tell from the real thing... It was built on a Ford F-100 truck chassis. And there was the Duesenberg II... Absolutely MAGNIFICENT! Completely indistinguishable from the actual car, but made of fiberglass... Authentic looking down to the wheels. And I also remember a kit that was sold to modify a Volkswagen Bug. It was called "The Carrington". My dad and uncle had a side business in the Eighties and built them in dad's body shop. They were absolutely gorgeous and really did look "classic", albeit really small 😁 Speaking of VWs, I'm with ya on those parking lights they used on the Excalibur in later years...🙄 You'd think that for that kind of money, they'd have used something a bit more elegant. Cheers!

Auburn meets Stutz meets Corvette meets Morgan... Fusca! I wonder where they got the headlights from?..new old 30's stock?. I read that Phyllis Diller owned 4...Fang must have thought he was Fangio.

You are right about Phyllis!! I don't know about Fang or his driving.... Excalibur made many of fittings or had them made to their specs. They were " forced " to use the VW lights because of the weird, US, regulations to get the turn and taillights approved!!!

@@carshowreporter More importantly do we know if Phyliss tore around in her Excalibers recklessly and had a wipe out on Geary and Post streets?..which don't even cross. 😂😆. Quote from Phyllis speaking to Fang ''Well they do now''🤣. I dare say with one or two or three or four X's in the garage, old Fang had unfettered access. Loved her too.😉
