Had the same one, I was 19 when I got it, was a great bike that I put about 70k miles on before the timing chain broke at a stop light, sadly I never fixed it and it got sold, got my eye on another one though, this is really imo the original fz6, loved my seca

Dang I like that bike, looks good needs a little work but for an 82 its in nice shape. Very meaty sound for a 650..

I have been restoring a 1982 maxim, and I am about to start it up! The muffler and exhaust system is in rough shape, I will have to buy a new exhaust. Can I start it up with only the straight pipe? Will it cause damage?

How much did you buy and sell it for

Just picked up a very poor condition of one of these from my work - a police impound lot. Apparently it was left abandoned by its previous owner and then picked up by the police for proper disposal I bought it with bill of sale and certified police junk letter for $150 only 1900 miles on it, its got brand new tires and battery. Im going to go thru the process to get a Vermont title for it right away but I cannot get it to start up. It cranks but no start, any idea how easy (or hard) it is to service the carburetor in this thing? Please let me know & if you still have the bike, an update would be nice ^_^

I also bought one of these for $350. She started very easily and I'm riding it frequently. However I'm still fine tuning the carbs. They are very easy to service and there are a lot of parts available. Get a Colortune and synch gauges and you will have no lroblems at all. That's what I should have done from the beginning. Carbs are Hitachi HCS32 just in case. I got a second set on eBy for $25 as backup and now I'm rebuilding them.

My ex's father had one of these in awesome condition. However he was cut off and t-boned by an incompetent driver totaling the bike and snapping his tibia.
