Bought an 82 just like it last year still has original plugs in it.Put a new impeller in it and mechanic said I have a new 82 7.5 motor.Haven't tried it yet,putting it on a 10.2 Bass Hound plastic boat,ought to push it pretty good.

man hope you don't have to go searching like I am for a spring for the starter. They don't make em anymore.

I have the same motor i got it for the same price ran great the first few months i got it but now it has a knocking sound mid-full throttle.

I have a 1976 7.5 mercy. It runs like 10sect then dies.

whats the weight of the 7.5 ?

***** No i don't think so. Its awkward to left.more like 70 pounds. Anyways the one i have weighs that. I wish it was 40 lbs. How i know is i can lift 40 pounds over my head with one hand not so easy with 70 pounds. Try lifting the mercury over your head with one hand. I don't think so.
