When I was a kid my dream was to have a modern dirt bike. Now my dream is to have one of these...

@@georgemichael6922 I have a 83 and I do love the 82 great looking bike my dad owned one , my sister was born in 82 and she's sitting on it in a photo 😊
We always remember the first ride on a big bore two stoke, I Was 13 and my feet couldn't touch the ground when sitting on the seat, so much fun, these bikes bring back the kid in all of us.
Cleanest 480r in existence
Back in the day if someone showed up in the woods with a 500 he was the king. If someone showed up with a 480 he was the king with the golden staff. What a beautiful machine this one is.

So true!!
That’s Honda baby I just scored an 83 cr480r the best model year for that bike
I just love the looks of the early 80s air cooled monoshock bikes....bare bones ,utilitarian machines. .....fucking awesome
Had an 81’ CR250, 83’ CR480, 85’ CR500, 85’ RM500, and I loved the 480 the most! The raw torque of low and mid on the 480 was just dreamy! God I miss that bike! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🍿🍿😎👍
@Daniel456324

The 85 had the most torque-hp out of all the 500 lineup. Maybe the 480 felt more usable power band?
@peanutgallery0078
3 жыл бұрын
@@Daniel456324 No question the 85’ had ultimately more hp, and the motor didn’t fall on its face at the top like the 480 did. But from the bottom well into the mid was unparalleled in the 480 imo! I absolutely loved that. To compensate for that face-plant power curve you just stayed in higher gears ... all the time! I could cruise at 15 mph in 4th and only had to twist the throttle to get over or around anything w only one shift left to go for warp speed! 👍😃😎🇺🇸
I just scored an 82 480r engine.. It's going in an 83 ATC 250R frame... I can't wait to get it running!

Very powerful. Cr480. Becareful. The 3 wheelers are very roll-over material. Take your time to adjust. To. Double the power
I have a childhood full of stories about one like it. Awesome and some free advice give this girl respect. Would love to have one again
love these old pingers reminds me of my 84 yz 490 i use to have when i was a kid

I'd go broke if these guys were down the street from me.......
What an amazing example 1981 to 1989 was the best period for looks of not only CR'S all motocross models. Today's bike might be lighter and handle better but they don't have the style of these beautiful ERA Classics.
The sound of a 2 stroke motor is so pleasant to hear. So much memories with my Aprilia RC 250
I have an 82 CR480 all original. I was going to sell it, but now I want to keep it. That bike looks awesome!

These bikes where full race spec back then they had magnesium parts In them to save weight and for a 50hp bike at 220lbs they did just that. For 1982-83 these where rockets heck there still pretty quick even now. And this is a pristine example of one to. Great job who ever restored it 👍🏽
only reason i didnt buy this bike vs the 1983 yz 490 was because of the kick starter on the left side
I gotta say kap... You have got the most beautiful dirt bikes in your collection. This 82 is so nice I'd probably never dirt it

Love all the Honda 500's that's where my heart is. But any 500 2 stroke. even the quad's
I "Motard" a KX500 years ago. Just ridiculous on the street.
Brings me back to childhood. Badass gorgeous bike. Shows you just how long a bike can serve you, if you take good care of it, which I've always done with my bikes. I just wish that I knew how to work on them. Enjoy your weekend at JDay Brother. Have fun and be safe.
almost every dirtbike ive owned were hondas. love the 92-96 cr250's. mcgrath era.
This is what I learned to ride on back in the day. It started my lifelong obsession with big bore 2 strokes. Owned a few 80's 500's too. Wish I still h ad em. Love your channel guys, keep up the great work.
You could "mess up" and still get the hole shot on this bike. I know. I did it many times. You could still get the hole shot today against modern bikes. The engine was magnificent.
Can’t wait to see Ken on a KTM 495, he makes open class bikes look like 80’s LOL. Love your guys vids, thanks,Bill
My favorite quote in this video “ what do you think karl” well i love it!!!!!! You should keep this badass beauty its stunning👍👍👍
My uncle had a 83 cr 480 when i was 11 or 12 years old. I rode it all the time then one day it rode me will never forget. I remember telling him it flipped backwards with me all by itself. Looking back i guess it kind of did lol.
Love 2 strokes..had an old PE 175 that went like a bat out of hell
I miss the 80s . ive raced my 1986 honda trx250r since 2001 . long live 2 strokes !!!!!
I owned a 1983 I put a New DG pipe on mine. I also had it bored out and I personally rebuilt the engine. New wiesco piston and rings. Boysen reed valve’s. It was a beast. I would love to have it back.
Somebody bought that and it scared the shit out of them so they stuck it in a barn you have a great eye for bikes man 👍 Carl's right it's gorgeous
Who remembers the wellie contest on the tv show that's incredible.
Throughout the years Honda has had several things printed on their seats. In most cases it's some form of the car logo. But I think the displacement size that was on the 81 and 82 was by far the best looking logo I've always loved that displacement logo. So cool looking I had the 82 cr 80
Damn. I’ve always wondered what one of these felt like. You just show how easily the tire wanted to reach for the stars.
Bloody hell that is a beast. Looks and sounds awsome ! Pulls like a train !!!!
I had one of these when I was younger left side kick lol what a beast wish I kept my old bikes can’t barely find these now
Ken I can’t stop watching this!!! On average couple of times a week at least. I had one when I was 14 yrs old then sold it 11 years later . You know the story Marriage & Mortgage 😔
You’re a gun bro your love for bikes is very encouraging keep up the good work
I definitely like the effort you guys have been doing with the microphones the last few months. Makes everything so much more enjoyable. Oh and that 480 is sweet man. Kaplan Cycles for life!

She looks and sounds beautiful, Ken! Wow! The new owner of this beauty will be one super-lucky person! "Yeah, you don't get the hole shot on this thing, you messed up!" :-)
I bought one brand new from dealer stock $2500 years ago Awsome bike
Biggest bike I ever personally owned was a CR 250. Neighbor had a YZ 490. That thing scared the shit outta me.
you have some beautiful bike wish i could ride half of them keep up the good work👍
I bought an 83 480..the seat was blue an it just said cr..went up the tank a lttle bit..was a great bike✌️🇺🇲🇬🇧😎
I'm jealous and I have a yz250x. Lucky you Ken. Can't wait to visit.
Don’t know if you’ll see this I owned that same bike guy bought it new looped it parked it for thirty years then I bought it so mint original as it gets
What a beauty! Love it! 👍
Absolutely gorgeous! What a bike!!!
Back when a open class bike was built to be as bad ass as could be...love that sharp rake on the front end too..bet it would be a great bike on the trails...
That would be a beast worth adding to the collection . = )

That thing is the Barrett 50 of dirt bikes!
I have a Polaris rzr 1000 and a Polaris Ranger and a klx110 and a 2020 Crf110f but my fav one is my 82 cr480
Wow that's what I'm talking about! Absolutely amazing! 👍 braaaaaaap!
Great job guys.
the Original LEG breakers. raced rebuilt and owned many of them. Honda always did make great, big bore bikes.
Wow, that bike is a beauty.
Hint: Kick it over with your right foot before you board when it's cold. I loved this bike and would like to get another one. It's a very balanced bike but it was a bit heavy feeling when landing a good jump.
Nice! Watch out for that front brake... it was a little touchy, I remember.

Just my opinion but I think the original Honda wing would look better than the red white and blue wing. Just something small but it really stands out for me

I'd buy it any day of the week, it's a weapon of a bike
Growing up my dad and I rode dirt bikes on our ranch, my dad had the same bike when I was 11, that's the first bike I learned on with that amount of power. Goofy bike but a powerhouse
Looks like new, wow 👍🏼

i had a 1990 cr500, traded it off for a plated kdx250, its nice to have the road legal 250 but sometimes...

Wishing I would of kept my 86 cr 500. I'm just 5' 7" and 170lbs so it was a lot of bike but lots of fun. I had lots of people wanting to ride it I would tell them if you can start it, very few could do that lol.
