The original Pinto’s used to knock out camshafts due to a blocked spray rail you could hear them knocking all over the place until they modified them otherwise they were reliable units.

Very true, remember it well, use to call it diesel conversions!
I had a 1986 2.0 Laser with a Kent fast road camshaft, K&N filter, 4-2-1 manifold and straight through exhaust. I still miss it today.
I had an 84 2.0 laser Capri..... excellent 👌👌👌
That’s a proper rarity for a Capri enthusiast. One of the last with a 4 speed before the mid facelift addition of 5 speed. Nice colour. Factory roof. Good to go I’d say 💙
They were a very strong engine apart from the cam and can be tuned to over 200bhp the 205 cylinder block ended up being used as fir the basis for the cosworth engine in the sierra
I had a drive in a 3.0 S Capri, when I was 17years old, it frightened me to death !!!
By 1983 they were 5 speed..with opening rear quarters and solid headrests
Had one of these in cashmere gold a long while ago and had those same fishnet recaro seats which aparantly where an optional extra.. Sadly mine got stolen never to be seen again😢
just had to be careful with the cam oil feed tube.
Bet D is a big fan of the new Capri ?
A friend had a new 2.0 S,in pale metallic blue.Great looking,but hard ride.
Not a bad example 👌 pinto is Spanish for small horse ❤😊

Pinto means I paint in Spanish 😭😭😭😭😭😭👍🏴🦊
Loved my '83 2.0S. Easy to work on, cambelt swap was a 30 minute job and was reliable, until the points corroded... Nimbus grey i think was mine. Oh to be young again 😂 (did Ford upgrade the engine for the Laser model? Had one of those that felt quicker, but lacked the character of the S - dad had a Brooklands (280i))
The boys haven't a clue what they're talking about, love it keep up showing these gems 👍
Shame it’s not 3.0s .
Cam shaft's- knocked out at 70K on lots of these.. Terrible VV carb also (bad starters). Canadian's hated these engines for poor starters. Easy to work on engine, but don't over do the great engine thing.. there are better engines from this time.

VV carb was the 1.6 IIRC, 2.0 had the improved weber (in the UK at least) (VV gave me no end of trouble, had to pull the slider back to start it in bad weather) never had a camshaft problem on a 100K+ miles, but did do regular oil changes. 5-speed box was bad though
Sounds rough ?
Slight rattle?
I rather have a 2.0 pinto engine over a v6 2.8i any day.

Très bien! 👍🏻
Let's try to talk over a rattling engine...
That thing sounds like a bag of nails, my 1.6S back in the day sounded nothing like that.
