I stumbled across this one tonight Feb. 26 2024 and watched to the end , it's now 3:15 am and I can't believe it's been 42 years since this race, I still remember most of those guys Hannah and Shu were always my favorites but loved them all. Now I'm 69 years old and these are just distant memories of my days as a young gun. God bless you all.

That is AWESOME, Marc! Glad you watched and enjoyed this classic race. Make sure to check out all the great videos that Gary Bailey has posted on his channel. It's my favorite on KZread. Those were the days. We were lucky to live in that era. God bless you, buddy.

Awesome, Bob! This was the 1st VHS tape of a race my family ever had. Growing up in rural KY, it wasn't easy to see races.. no MTV, or anything. So we just rode more. I about had this one memorized, though.. still love it! Keep it gripped and RIPPED!

I wore out the few VHS tapes of racing that I had back then too! These kids now have no idea how hard it was to find any kind of moto on tv…now you can watch every supercross live, with over 3 hours of coverage! I absolutely worshiped Hannah from the mid 70’s on, but I never got to see him ride or a video of him actually racing until the internet came along. Now, I’m trying to watch all those races I read about in cycle news, MXA and Dirt Bike back in the day.

The first time I saw Mark Barnett was at Redbud. We just called it Buchanan back then. Pretty sure it was his last amateur race. It went off before the pros ran. Everybody was talking about him before the race. I'd never heard of them until then. Of course the youngster smoked everybody. Even Bob Hannah who seemed to take fitness to the next level, said The Bomber took it to the next, next level

Hannah was tearing it up! He did a meet and greet at a shop in PHX around 1980.. I couldn't get a ride to meet him so I called and asked for Bob Hannah.. He came to the phone and talked to me for a couple minutes.. He was awesome to take my call and treated me like his #1 fan.. He is the real deal for sure and a great role model. Gave a 14 year old kid a great memory!!

21:50 There is a direct correlation between affordable bikes and fans in the stands, (when any kid could afford a new bike.). The 1986 production rule was the start of the sports decline (tripled the cost of a bike in 5 years), and now the EPA forced 4-stroke made the sport for the well to do families only. It is that kind of outside interference that damages every industry that has ever been built.
