1981- John Denver- Boy From The Country
Although the song was written about St. Francis by John's friend, Michael Martin Murphy, as John states in the intro, he felt it could've been written by him and that it could be about him.

This voice is as close to a perfectly tuned instrument as has ever existed. Mis you John. What a gift you were to the universe.
I played this song at my brother's funeral last year. Taken from COVID, he was THE biggest JD fan. Just an incredibly lovely song...and to now learn it was was of John's favorite as well....I smile.
Such a magnificent voice. Pure joy listening to JD. Rest in perpetual peace Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr.
There are stalkers and there are REAL people who appreciate Mr. John Denver’s principles in life. That’s me!🤲🏻🤚😀🦋🤚🌈🦋🇺🇸🦅 Why do people make life so complicated and simply live SIMPLE out of love, peace, harmony with some strength in strength looking out for each other.🌈🦋
one of my all time favorite songs sung by JD and by MMM who wrote it. I had thought for years he wrote it, it is very in tune with many of his songs and lyrics. Still grieve his loss all these years later. The world lost more than a talented artist when he passed. He was an advocate for nature, for the animals.
I love all John Denver songs but Boy from the Country is my favorite. His voice is really quite beautiful in this song and about the animals speaking they sure do. Anyone who loves animals this song is a heart breaker.❤️🦅🌹🎼
I don't think this vocal performance will ever be equalled...John singing incredibly here 🌻
I was born and lived most of my life in the city but my husband has lived most of his life in the country we moved to the country 11 years ago and I would never go back rip JD
As always... beautiful voice, song, playing, just perfect. John you are an angel forever, thank you!
Man with a golden tune and voice..and most of all a very good human being always stays in our heart..

A true passion for what he loved doing the most. Playing for a audience. And yes, you not only hear it you can feel it. JD truly loved to put feeling into his music. A true art. Beautiful.

. . . Mr. Denver did not write this song . It was written by Michael Martin Murphey - credit due to him .
It is like we had a sacred moment with John Denver. He was an exceptional talent and artist. ❤

Miss you John, but l hear you. R.I.P.
MMM said it was the first paycheck he got for one of his songs; and said lovingly of JD, "There was nobody like him."
He left this bullshit world 🌎 richer with his 🎵 songs. As hope peace and humanity. We will never forget him. Hope to join soon.

I wonder how he would have done on American Idol? Just an outstanding talent that communicated with his audience very directly.

Unforgettable
People should acknowledge Michael M. Murphy wrote this song appearing on his Geronimo's Cadillac (1972). It was his first song he wrote that he was paid for. It's a good album. Check it out. I wish JD would have mentioned MMM more re this song. Beautiful song....one of his favorites.

MMM is credited and mentioned in the description. John did mention often in concerts that it was written by MMM. Also John sang harmony on a couple of MMMs songs.

👏👏👏💘
While this is not a John Denver original, it sounds as if it could be.
I don't believe this is 1981. John looks younger than that in this recording. It's one of many of my favorite songs of his. Love him still hope to see him in heaven 🙏 ❤
