1980s Station IDs from Every American Television Market (that I could find)
A collection of station IDs from my home country, the USA (or America, or the United States of America, or, yeah) Lots of oldschool animation and computer graphics, as well as catchy jingles.
Here's what you can find in this video:
00:00 Obligatory (rushed) Intro
00:21 210-160
03:12 159-130
05:27 129-109
07:03 Guy
07:14 107-100
07:50 99-70
10:28 69-40
13:55 39-20
16:22 19-1
Rankings in the video are as of the 2019-20 TV season and are thus quite inaccurate to the 212-ranked TV markets of the 1980s (taking into account population incline/decline and county-shifting).
To see a more accurate ranking of some of the TV markets at the time, go here (1979-80 TV season):
worldradiohist...
There are minor inaccuracies in the editing as well, but hopefully no one cares.
NOTE that I DO NOT own the videos used here, these are credited to other KZreadrs (as in, they're not my captures, I'm not THAT good). If you would like to be credited somehow just let me know.
Once again, I don't own the station IDs/promos used here.
These are for entertainment purposes only.
Hope you enjoy, like, subscribe, and share this video!

Nice pick for Tampa w/ a rare & memorable sighting of WFTS in their pre-ABC days, not many examples here here on YT. It was also nice to see KIMT finally did in fact, "work harder for us".

Tampa Bay native here. I watched plenty of WFTS-TV back then. WTOG was the clear non-Big 3 leader here at the time, but WFTS-TV held its own, especially when it got the FOX affiliation in '88. The logo shown here is an improvement over what it used before.

You can sure tell by the rankings that this was in the 1980's. Nowadays Grand Rapids, MI (the market serving an area from Hesperia, MI to the Indiana border during the 1980's, Nielsen stupidly moved the boundary up to the Lake/Wexford county line which is well north of Baldwin) is probably in or near the top ten and Detroit is probably well down in the rankings.

I saw a couple of mistakes. For channel 11 in Baltimore, MD, it is WBAL (CBS in the early 80's now NBC since 1/1/1996) not WJZ-13 (ABC now CBS since 1/1/1996). For WDVM (now WUSA since 7/4/1986), it was during the brief "Ours To Share" campaign from 1984 thru to the call letter change in 1986.
