Without this precious cut out, i would have NEVER been able to grasp this concept just from explaination alone. When you actually see it working, in motion, then you can truly appreciate what's going on to make this system work. I have to agree that it's a true marvel of simplitic engineering. Great video.

At first it looked complicated, but then, as you started showing it in operation, you realize how ingenious and simple it is, amazing what the human mind can design , and none of us would’ve ever gotten to see that Had you not cut the door exterior open, A ford exclusive ,something you’ll never see on a Rolls-Royce or Mercedes, Cadillac , during that time period, thank you for making that excellent video.

Too bad that the door skins weren’t removable like the ones on the 1963 - 1965 Buick Rivieras. Buick engineers did it so the door glass could be adjusted with the door closed in order to assure a perfect seal on the first production frameless door windows. I must agree that the Ford mechanism is genius. Thanks for another of your great videos!

Eli Whitney patented the cotton gin in 1794, some of those movements I recognize in this window mechanism. Of course, it was modifications of those movements that someone at Ford came up with and I'm sure he's long dead, so we can't congratulate him. The railroad copied some of those grand movements, as well. I'm thinking wheel rotations in steam engines. About 15 years ago, I entertained the idea of combining electronics within our clothes (warming wires, timers and sensors), but realized I was about 2000 years too late. My only contributions would have been a rag hat or a rope belt. 😀😁

I have a 1983 Mark VI Pucci Coupe. Your door panel looks like it's from a Pucci model. 🙂I sprayed WD40 silicone spray on the window runs. Now both the driver and passenger side windows lower and raise nicely. 🙂 However, on the driver's side, there is a big gap between the interior door panel and exterior door. The main window glass significantly bounces from side to side when it is in a lower position (top of main glass pane is about level to the top of the side view mirror). It obviously straightens the higher it's raised while fitting in the upper frame. The glass does not appear to bounce side to side when in the full raised position. When I open the driver's door and look from the side into the gap between the interior panel and the exterior door, I can see that one of the upper corner pressure pins (plastic bolts) near the door has broken in half. Can you provide some guidance on what you think might be causing the gap in my panels. Possibly more push pins broken and preventing the two sides from joining more close together. Next week, I plan to take it to a local shop for review. Your feedback is appreciated. Also, my weatherstrip along the interior and exterior base of both door windows has dry rot. Can you show how the interior and exterior strips (with metal flashing) is removed? Can the rubber be unstapled from the flashing and replaced?

And have you tried to use electrical contact cleaner and also some silicone and lithium grease may be on your original cuz it probably will work again a lot of stuff on these cars doesn't completely die they just need to be refreshed but you can even take a universal door actuator or one from another like they've already said Ford or Lincoln or Mercury vehicle and you can put it up to where the actuator on your original one would move and will see the action of it and if you use one from another car or Universal you just Mark the position where it needs to be and then you can drill holes and then attach it you know slightly different location than the original and then you just need a splice in the wires probably have the same number wires just different color maybe
